KP Government Launced E-Procurement System To Increase Transparency

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is implementing an online e-Procurement system to increase transparency and accountability in public procurement and contract awards. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Procurement Regulatory Authority developed the system with support from USAID, and it aims to improve governance. Recently, the system underwent a pilot project/test run at the Chief Secretary Office in Peshawar. Today, the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary, chaired a meeting to review the e-Procurement system’s progress.

The 18th Meeting of the Steering Committee of PDMA Regarding PARRSA

The 18th meeting of the steering committee of PDMA PARRSA was held at Civil Secretariat Peshawar under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry. The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary of Relief, Secretary of Health, Secretary of Communications and Construction, Secretary of Primary and Secondary Education, DG PDMA, DG Rescue 1122, and other concerned officials.

The meeting was informed that the Provincial Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Settlement Authority (PARRSA) was created in 2009 to rebuild the infrastructure damaged due to militancy in the Malakand division which was merged with PDMA in 2018 and was made as the rehabilitation wing of PDMA. The said committee of PARRSA gives speedy approval of projects in various sectors in the Malakand Division.

  The meeting agenda consisted of pending projects under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Reconstruction Program, the transfer of funds allocated for destroyed houses to the rehabilitation of flood-affected infrastructure, the establishment of a review committee on the progress of projects and various projects under the Malakand Infrastructure Project.

The committee directed that in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Reconstruction Program pending projects in various sectors should be removed and completed before the month of June. While the transfer of funds for demolished houses should be presented before the provincial cabinet. Moreover, the proposed project in the Malakand infrastructure project should also be approved by the provincial cabinet. The meeting also approved the review committee under the chairmanship of Secretary Relief and Resettlement and directed that the review committee will convene a review meeting in two weeks and inform the Additional Chief Secretary about the progress of the projects.

Senate Standing Committee for Safron Sub-Committee Members Visited Peshawar

The Senate Standing Committee for Safron Sub-Committee members visited Peshawar.
The convener of the sub-committee Senator Dr. Sania Nishtar and the member committee Senator Shamim Afridi were briefed on the development projects of the merged districts. The sub-committee stressed the importance of digitization and more effective monitoring of projects.
The sub-committee has assured the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of its support in taking funds from the federal government for the province, especially the newly merged districts.
In the meeting, the sub-committee was also given a detailed briefing on e-tendering/procurement and GIS system.
Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Zubair Asghar Qureshi, secretaries and other officials participated in the meeting.

Meeting With Khyber Pass Economic Corridor (KPEC) Mission

A meeting was held with the Khyber Pass Economic Corridor (KPEC) Mission under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Mr. Muhammad Zubair Asghar Qureshi.
The Additional Chief Secretary was briefed on status of the project, and he emphasized that the project be pursued on fast track basis. Secretary Planning and Development Department, Mr. Khayam Hassan Khan and Chief Economist, Mr. Muhammad Ali Asghar also attended the meeting.
The KPEC Project aims to expand economic activity between Pakistan and Afghanistan by improving regional connectivity and promoting private sector development along the Khyber Pass Corridor.
