Press Release of 6 Projects of Worth 1.5 Billion

Peshawar, May 4, 2020: To ensure continuity of governance and development projects despite COVID pandemic in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a high-level meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Shakeel Qadir Khan, the Additional Chief Secretary P&D Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here in Peshawar.
In strict compliance with the standard operating procedures for social distancing laid down by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for all citizens as well as officials, the PDWP meeting was organized in a remote working mode via Video-Link and attended by Secretaries and representatives from the Departments of Health, C&W, Environment and Local Government.
The forum considered eight projects of Relief & Rehabilitation, water, multisector development of the province. The forum approved Six Projects with an estimated cost of Rs. 1.5 Billion, while 2 projects were deferred and were returned to their respective departments for rectification.
Among the approved projects include the construction of Magodand dam, Barakas Dam and Turbai Dam under the Fata Resource Development Project in District Khyber. Besides, the Working Party also approved projects pertaining to relief and rehabilitation, and disaster management in the merged districts.
The Working Party also approved the strengthening of Project Management Unit (PMU) of merged districts. The PMU will facilitate better project management and resource allocations for projects.
