Steering Committee Meeting on SCRP

Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee of the School Construction and Rehabilitation Program (SCRP). The meeting was attended by Education Department, C&W, Project Officials Additional Secretary, P&S Education Officers also attended. Under the SCRP, construction, standardization, upgradation and repair of old schools are being carried out in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.A total of 128 schools are under construction in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a cost of Rs 4.5 billion under the project.The Development work is underway on 54 schools in the first part and 74 schools in the second part. The quality of schools in Haripur, Buner, Karak, Peshawar, Lower Dir, Swat and Kohat is being improved.Work on the second phase of the project has started in July this year and under it 74 schools including primary schools including schools of different categories are being constructed, repaired and upgraded.The meeting was informed that Rs 3.2 billion has been spent on the project so far. Work on 40 out of 54 schools of the first phase of the project has been completed. Work on 10 schools will be handed over to the Education Department by December this year. It will be completed by October while work on 3 schools will be completed by December this year.Work on the basic infrastructure of the second part of 65 schools will be completed by March 2021
