Special Assistant to CM and Secretary P&D Briefing to Media

Due to FATA integration, the last two years have been very challenging for the Department of Planning and Development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but thanks to effective strategy of the department, all the challenges have been met effectively and a network of development projects has been set up in the tribal districts. The department successfully merged FATA employees and did not stop their salaries for a single day. The Department of Planning and Development, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the first institution in the country to automate the entire system by launching the Planning Commission Form Management System, which will promote digitalization in other departments, save time and better monitor projects.
These views were expressed by Special Assistant of Information and Higher Education to Chief Minister Kamran Bangash and Secretary Planning and Development Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Humayun Khan while briefing the media on the two-year performance of the department. Secretary Humayun Khan said that four Provincial Development Working Party meetings are being held this month so that the projects can be approved and started soon and completed before the end of the financial year. He said that in the Corona situation, the Planning and Development Department submitted several reports to the provincial government representing the real picture of the economy and its impact and made suggestions for overcoming difficult situations, including Corona coping strategy and re-commitment. Under the new commitment, 43 measures have been taken in 9 sectors at a cost of Rs. 29 billion which will help the economy. The secretary said under the Accelerated Development Program on the development of tribal districts, Rs. 24 billion was spent in the year 20-2019. Under the 10-year strategy, work will be done under the Accelerated Development Program for the first three years. The department has launched GIS system to check the actual position of development projects which helps in viewing the geographical position of the projects and helps in decision making. Comprehensive Framework has been formulated. The Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate of the Department has compiled 2666 reports regarding scrutiny and monitoring of development projects in the last two years.
