A steering committee meeting under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shakeel Qadir Khan was held at the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to expedite the work on the Khyber Institute of Child Health and Children’s Hospital, Peshawar, which is the first of its kind in the province to treat children.
The Khyber Institute of Child Health and Children’s Hospital is a unique mega project of its kind in the province which has been delayed in the past due to various reasons. The government has expedited the work to complete the project.
The cost of the project is Rs 8 billion. The PC-1 of which has recently been set up in accordance with the requirements of modern times and to ensure the provision of all facilities and equipment for the Children’s Hospital keeping in view the latest technology. It was decided in the meeting that all the required staff would be provided to the hospital six months before the completion of the project.
For the project, at least 10 specialist doctors will be sent on training on scholarships through which a team of pediatric psychologists, pediatric eye specialists, pediatric neurologists, and pediatric nephrologists will be available for services in the province. A plan of action was also approved for the installation and maintenance of the Health Management Information System and equipment for the project. It was also decided in the meeting that the steering committee will closely monitor the progress of the project.
