Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah inaugurated Start-up Workshop for The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Economic Transformation Project, a joint venture of International Fund for Agricultural Development and Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Covering all the districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Merged districts, the overarching goal of the project is to contribute to poverty reduction, as well as to enhance food and nutrition security among rural households. The project is aimed at achieving improved rural income and employment, focusing on high-value agriculture in a sustainable and climate-resilient manner with a special focus on youth and women.
Approximately 785,000 households, comprising around 4.35 million individuals, will directly or indirectly benefit from household-level interventions. These interventions include economic graduation and insertion, market-oriented professional farmer organizations (PFOs), and revamping Farms Service Centers (FSCs) aimed at enhancing market access and productivity. Additionally, capacity-building initiatives, skill development trainings will also be provided to enhance the effectiveness of assets and promote enterprise development.
