Environmental and Social Management Framework And Resettlement Policy Framework

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (GoKP) is preparing the KP Human Capital Investment Project (KPHCIP) with support from the World Bank (WB). The project will be implemented by provincial Planning and Development Department through Health Department and Elementary and Secondary Education Department. In line with the national/provincial laws as well as WB safeguard requirements; and to address potentially negative environmental and social impacts of the Project, the GoKP has conducted an environmental and social assessment of the proposed activities. As an outcome of this assessment, this Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) has been prepared.

SC Meeting on FATA Infrastructure Program

On the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Mehmood Khan, the Steering Committee meeting of FATA Infrastructure Program was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Shahab Ali Shah. The representatives of the concerned departments participated in the meeting. In the meeting, discussions were held regarding the activities and progress in the fields of education, irrigation, clean drinking water and health under the project.
Under the project, new schools, hospitals and roads are being constructed in the merged districts.
The Additional Chief Secretary expressed satisfaction over the progress in the projects.

7th PSC Meeting On FWRDP

The 7th Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting of FATA Water Resources Development Project (FWRDP) was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Shahab Ali Shah. 2nd PDWP Held on 25th August 2022

In the second session of the Provincial Development Working Party, 33 projects worth 20 billion rupees were approved. The approval was given in the PDWP meeting presided over by Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Shahab Ali Shah.
On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Mahmood Khan, projects such as road maintenance, improvement and construction of new roads and feasibility studies were approved in several districts of the province, including the construction of a bridge on Darya Khan Road in DI Khan, which will allow uninterrupted traffic. Streamlining, reduction in travel time and a new era of development in the districts will begin.
The meeting was attended by the concerned departments and members. The forum approved projects related to Public Health Engineering, C&W, Higher Education and Local Government sectors for the development of the province.
Among the approved projects are the establishment of a Counter Terrorism Department in districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Feasibility studies for the construction of Warana to Link Road and Warana to Masakan and Gadoon Industrial Zone Bypass Road in Swabi District, Dhamtoor Bypass in Abbottabad Haveliyan. Construction of Grade Interchange, Construction of Bridge in Nowshera, Construction of District Abbottabad Haveliyan City Bypass Road, Construction of RCC Bridge on DI Khan Darya Khan Road, Construction of District Swat Venai Chowk to Gut and Baikand Road, Openness and Feasibility Studies for Rehabilitation, Construction of Shaheeda Sir to Ate Khor, Sir Kala to Bar Tiraj Road in Bunir District and Improvement of Batara to Shangra Road, Feasibility under Project for Construction of RCC Bridge Junks Barkot in Dir Bala District. Study Master Planning Survey Design Drawing Tender Documents etc Feasibility Study and Design for Construction of Bridge over River Indus at District Shangla Kabul Gram Feasibility Study, Design and Supervision for Construction of Bypass Road Dir Bala Wadi District Swat UC Sukhara, Darmai, Ashad, Droshkhila, Bedra, Matta, Chapriyal, Barthana, Beha and Gwalirai. Supply and construction of streets, district Swat tehsil Matta to Koza Bandai and tehsil Khwaja Khela to Charbagh, construction and maintenance of gravity-based water supply scheme of existing infrastructure etc.

Finance Minister, CS, ACS, Corps Commander and Commissioner Peshawar Visited Flood Affected Areas in KP

Flood Control Room is Established in PDMA Peshawar

In light of the instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Mahmood Khan, a flood control room was established in the PDMA office in Peshawar comprising various provincial departments. This flood control room will collect and provide timely and accurate information related to the flood as per the notification issued by the provincial government.
According to the control, on the instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan, more relief materials have been sent to the flood-affected districts of Charsadda, Malakand, Peshawar, Swat, DI Khan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Tank, Kohistan Lower, and Dir Upper. Among these relief supplies, 2700 tents, 2700 meters, 1000 plastic mats, 2000 hajjen cats, 1700 jerry cans, 700 buckets, 1300 quilts, 2700 tarpaulin sheets, 1400 mosquito nets, 300 gas cylinders and other items are included. And in view of the flood situation, the weekly leave of PDMA employees has been cancelled and the district administration and related organizations are engaged in relief activities. PDMA is continuously monitoring the situation. Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr Shahab Ali Shah also visited the flood control room and reviewed the current flood situation and issued instructions to the relevant departments. Review of Flood Control Measures

Provincial Minister of Relief Department, Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa visited the Provincial Flood Control Room. The team reviewed flood-related measures and directed PDMA and concerned departments to intensify relief activities in flood-affected areas.

Development Partners Conference on Flood Protection and Rehabilitation Activities

On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Mehmood Khan, a Development Partners Conference was held in the Department of Planning and Development, Finance Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Taimur Jhagra, Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah presided
The representatives of the development partners participated in the meeting. Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra talked about the government initiatives, flood effects and rehabilitation activities and the needs arising after the flood situation.
The Additional Chief Secretary emphasized on relief activities and rehabilitation to the affected people in remote areas apart from settled districts while directing to take measures on emergency basis.
Chief Economist Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Ali Asghar gave a detailed briefing regarding flood damage, relief and rehabilitation activities in the entire province. In the meeting, it was decided to create an efficient and robust system with all stakeholders under the supervision of PDMA for relief and rehabilitation measures. The Development Partners agreed to work on the restoration process.
