In the Department of Planning and Development, Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah has been given detailed briefings regarding the affairs and projects under various sections of P&D. The officers of the International Development Section in AJP&D briefed the Additional Chief Secretary about the progress on various projects. The Additional Chief Secretary emphasized on making a coordinated strategy to complete all the projects and achieve the goals. Secretary P&D Mr. Khayam Hasan Khan and Chief Economist Mr. Muhammad Ali Asghar also participated in the meeting.

In order to reduce the impact of climate change, the scope of important environment-friendly projects has been approved. In the light of the guidelines set by the Election Commission, projects worth 24 billion were approved in the meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party. The approval was given in a PDWP meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah. PDWP members and concerned departments participated in the meeting. The forum approved 9 projects related to Energy & Power, C&W and Interior for the development of the province. Sanctioned Projects include Access to Energy- Construction of MHPs on Canals, Rivers and Tributaries, Solarization of Schools and BHUs, Additional Cost Payment as per Court Decision: Police Post Ghazi Baba, Mardan and Police Lines Digar, Buner , purchase of land for construction, construction of road from Pathrak to Thal Kumrat Dir Bala, reconstruction of bridge over Tor Versak Digger, widening and improvement of remaining 18 km of District Swarai Peer Qilapuran Road, District Swat Matta from Bariam Chowk including widening and rehabilitation of road up to Venai.
Under the chairmanship of Federal Secretary Economic Affairs Division Dr. Kazim Niaz and Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, a high-level meeting was held at Civil Secretariat Peshawar on Friday to review the projects supported by international development partners. Additional Chief Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah, representatives of World Bank and Asian Development Bank, Executive Secretaries of concerned departments, Project Directors and other concerned officials attended. A detailed briefing was given to the participants of the meeting on the development projects supported by international development organizations and related issues. In the meeting, 27 projects of different sectors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were reviewed. Among these projects, 10 World Bank, 13 Asian Development Bank and one IFAD are providing funds for the project. In the meeting, it was emphasized that the ongoing projects should be accelerated and the implementation of the projects under consideration should be ensured. Federal Secretary Economic Affairs Division Dr. Kazim Niaz said that the federal government will provide full cooperation with the provincial government in these projects. He further said that the timely completion of these projects will benefit the local population. Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry issued instructions to the Executive Secretaries and concerned officials to regularly review the progress of projects supported by international development partners under their respective departments. This will enable identification of obstacles in all such projects, their resolution and timely completion. He said that these projects play a key role in reducing the effects of climate change, improving health and education sectors and infrastructure in Pakistan.

Finance Secretary Mr. Aamir Sultan Tareen, Chief Economist Mr. Muhammad Ali Asghar, field staff of the concerned department and representatives of sections and representative of EFAD participated in the meeting through video link. In the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the progress towards achieving the goals of the project. The Additional Chief Secretary issued instructions to the field staff to speed up the activities and achieve the set targets of the project.
