A meeting with Ms. Anita Hirsch, Country Director and Representative of the World Food Programme, and her team was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Islam Zaib, Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Additional Chief Secretary extended a warm welcome to the WFP delegation and lauded the long-standing partnership between the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the World Food Programme.
During the meeting, various areas of mutual interest were discussed. The Additional Chief Secretary highlighted the growing climate risks faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stated that the province is not only vulnerable to normal seasonal floods, but is increasingly witnessing cloudbursts and flash floods, which pose serious challenges to infrastructure, agriculture, and communities.
Both sides agreed to further enhance collaboration, particularly in the areas of food security and climate adaptation etc.
To ensure timely and effective delivery, the Additional Chief Secretary directed the relevant officers of the Planning and Development Department to extend all necessary facilitation and support for the smooth implementation of ongoing and future WFP interventions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen the partnership.
