Mr. Samuel Rizk, United Nations Development Programme – UNDP Resident Representative, along with his team, visited the Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, today.
The Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Islam Zaib, warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed his appreciation for UNDP’s continued support to the province.
A meeting was held during the visit. The discussion focused on the National Governance Programme (NGP) and UNDP’s ongoing technical assistance to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the areas of climate governance and energy regulation.
The progress achieved so far was reviewed in detail.
The discussion also covered next steps for strengthening the Climate Action Board (CAB) and the sequencing of climate finance support linked to CAB operationalization.
The forum further deliberated on a possible provincial climate implementation framework. It was agreed to enhance support to KP in assessing existing climate policies, sector plans, institutional arrangements, and implementation priorities in line with Pakistan’s NDC 3.0 commitments and KP’s own climate priorities.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Islam Zaib, ACS P&D KP, provided guidance on priorities of province and potential areas of collaboration. He reaffirmed the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s commitment to this partnership.
The meeting was attended by officials of the Planning and Development Department and representatives of UNDP Pakistan.
