The 5th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party of the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the financial year 2026-27 was held today under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Islam Zeb. The meeting approved 26 development projects worth over Rs 130 billion. These projects cover irrigation, roads, agriculture, livestock, forests, health, sports, and other important sectors.
Regarding livestock include animal health check-up and breeding services, animal health check-up and provision of medicines through mobile veterinary clinics, preventive vaccination, disease surveillance, deworming, breeding services, veterinary extension activities and training and awareness of livestock farmers, etc.
Addressing the meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary said that quality, transparency and implementation within the stipulated time should be ensured on all approved projects. He directed that line departments should work on the projects expeditiously by maintaining coordinated communication.
In implementing the development priorities of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today approved two separate projects of Ehsaas Bezubaan Sehat Gadhi. Separate projects were approved for the settled and merged districts.
The projects approved in the meeting include the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey and the Integrated Development Package for Zakhakhel area of Khyber District. Similarly, the Infrastructure Development Package for Upper Chitral District, which includes construction of major roads, bridges, flood protection works and check dam, was also approved. The meeting also approved the project for upgradation and installation of special museum showcases in Peshawar Museum Campus under the Khyber Pass Economic Corridor Project.
Two projects of Ehsaas-e-Ba-Zaban: Sehat Gadhi Phase-1 related to livestock were approved. Support to women farmers for promotion of modern agricultural interventions and small businesses in merged districts and KP Resilient Agriculture Livelihoods Development Project were approved in the agriculture sector. Construction of Siran Right Bank Canal in Mansehra district related to irrigation was included. Billion Tree Plus project related to forests was approved.
Land acquisition for Swat Expressway Phase-II related to roads and land acquisition and resettlement expenditure for Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway Package-I to Package-VIII were approved. Apart from this, the projects include construction of new roads in Bara Sub-Division, feasibility study of 50 km of Dir Motorway, detailed engineering design and commercial cum financial feasibility study and improvement, rehabilitation and construction of various roads and bridges in Jamrud, Bara and Landi Kotal.
Regarding sports, feasibility study and establishment of sports complex in Upper Dir District, feasibility study for installation of tartan track and astro turf at Curtis Ground in Haripur and feasibility study and construction of cricket ground in Lower Dir District were approved.
In the health sector, plans were approved for the construction of wards, OPD, gym and private rooms for comprehensive rehabilitation of patients with paralysis and head injury at the Paraplegic Center in Hayatabad, Peshawar; the establishment of a dental college BDS program under the name of Gaju Khan College of Dentistry at Gaju Khan Medical College Swabi, and the construction of a clinical tower at Bacha Khan Medical Complex MTI Swabi.
