Review Meeting on Progress in Merged Areas Development Projects

Progress on integrated district development projects is the top priority of the government, which is why the government is closely monitoring the development projects of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa integrated districts. A meeting was held in the P&D department regarding the progress on three major projects of the health department in the merged districts. During the meeting, the Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate of the P&D Department presented a monitoring report on three ongoing projects of the Health Department in the integrated districts at a cost of about Rs. 4.5 billion. The report examines in detail the status of medical professionals, facilities and medical equipment provided to various health centers and hospitals in the integrated districts under the projects. For this purpose, Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation formed 7 teams for merged districts. The teams visited 9 rural health centers in the integrated districts, including Berang, Arang, Yaka Ghund, Atta Jod, Bahi and Dog, Kohi Hassan Khel and Krez. The teams also visited District Headquarters Hospital Ghalani, Mashti Mela, Bajaur, Tehsil Teaching Hospital Dogra, Type D Hospital Mamond, Nawagai, Pusht, Jamrud, Kalaya and compiled reports on the supply of medical equipment, medicines, vaccines, warehouses and other facilities in these hospitals. The report proposes to the health department to improve health facilities in the integrated districts, on which the health department will take further action.

Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shakeel Qadir Khan at a meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party, a few months ago, directed the Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate to submit a detailed report on the ongoing projects of the Health Department in the merged districts.

To reform the Small Industries Development Board (SIDB), the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has outlined a comprehensive development plan. Entrusted with the promotion and facilitation of small industries in the province, the SIDB has been working under the aegis of the Industries Department to establish training and manufacturing centers for small and cottage industries besides developing small industries estates throughout the province. A meeting for SIDB reforms was held at the Planning and Development Department today to share the findings and recommendations of a diagnostic study regarding SIDB sector reforms. These reforms will be contributing to support cottage and small-scale enterprises in the province through a set of demand-based services including infrastructure support, market intelligence, industrial linkages, capacity building and policy advice to boost economic activity and job creation.

Steering Committee Meeting on Khyber Institute of Child Health & Children’s Hospital

A steering committee meeting under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shakeel Qadir Khan was held at the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to expedite the work on the Khyber Institute of Child Health and Children’s Hospital, Peshawar, which is the first of its kind in the province to treat children.

The Khyber Institute of Child Health and Children’s Hospital is a unique mega project of its kind in the province which has been delayed in the past due to various reasons. The government has expedited the work to complete the project.

The cost of the project is Rs 8 billion. The PC-1 of which has recently been set up in accordance with the requirements of modern times and to ensure the provision of all facilities and equipment for the Children’s Hospital keeping in view the latest technology. It was decided in the meeting that all the required staff would be provided to the hospital six months before the completion of the project.

For the project, at least 10 specialist doctors will be sent on training on scholarships through which a team of pediatric psychologists, pediatric eye specialists, pediatric neurologists, and pediatric nephrologists will be available for services in the province. A plan of action was also approved for the installation and maintenance of the Health Management Information System and equipment for the project. It was also decided in the meeting that the steering committee will closely monitor the progress of the project.

KP Government Decided to Provide Interest-free Loans to Youth

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government decides to provide interest-free loans to young people for business at a cost of Rs 3.8 billion. Youths in all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including merged districts will be provided interest-free loans for business under the scheme of Rs. 2 billion and 1.8 billion have been earmarked for integrated districts. Provincial Development Working Party has already approved the plans. Department of Tourism, Culture and Youth Affairs will launch the project with the help of the Bank of Khyber while P&D Department will oversee the project.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shakeel Qadir Khan in the P&D department to finalize the project in which the Secretary Tourism and senior officials of Bank of Khyber participated.

The scheme has a special 25% quota for women, eunuchs, people with disabilities and minorities. There are three categories of loans for business. Under the first category, loans of up to Rs. 5 lakhs, under the second category up to Rs. 10 lakhs and under the third category up to Rs. 20 lakhs will be given. The project will operate under a unique model in which eligible youth for loans will be given special training with the help of special trainers and experts in the field of business after which the youth will be able to start their own business. The first phase of the project will benefit 3,500 businesses and 10,500 families. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is working to stabilize the economy by providing jobs for young people through business loans and start-up programs, and by promoting business.

19th PDWP Held On 31st March 2021

The 19th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Shakeel Qadir Khan, the Additional Chief Secretary P&D Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 31st March, 2021 through video link. The meeting was attended by members of PDWP and concerned departments. The forum considered 39 schemes pertaining to Law & Justice, Forestry, Agriculture, Water, Health, Elementary & Secondary Education, Higher Education, Multi Sectoral Development, DWSS, Sports & Tourism, Industries, Labour & Roads sectors for the uplift of the province. The forum approved 38 schemes with an estimated cost of Rs. 41,492.392 million. 08 schemes were cleared for inclusion in the PSDP 2021-22. 01 scheme was deferred due to deficiencies in project documents/PC-I and were returned to the respective department for rectification.

Review Meeting on Mohmand Dam

A review meeting was held on Mohmand Dam in Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shakeel Qadir Khan. The meeting reviewed the ongoing development work on Mohmand Dam. The meeting was informed that work on Mohmand Dam is in progress and in accordance with timelines

During the meeting, issues related to water distribution channels, water supply and land of Mohmand Dam were discussed in detail and instructions were issued to the district administrations of Mohmand and Charsadda on all issues.

The meeting was informed that the project is providing employment to the locals. In this regard, Toyota will also launch a training program for the locals so that more and more locals can get employment opportunities.
