Review Meeting on Seventh Population & Housing Census

The National Census has entered its final stages, and with the cooperation of the citizens, the whole process is progressing towards completion successfully. According to the data so far, 39,408,562 (39,408,562) people have been counted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Regarding the seventh population and housing census, a review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and Chief Senses Commissioner Naeem Al Zafar. In the meeting, the ongoing seventh population and housing census was reviewed in detail. Additional Chief Secretary KP, Provincial Senses Commissioner, Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and officials of the concerned departments participated in the meeting.

The Chief Secretary directed the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to complete the census on time and hold review meetings on a daily basis and share its report.

Chief Censuses Commissioner and Member Support Services Pakistan Statistical Institute briefed the meeting in detail about the action plan to complete the census process in the best manner.

The meeting was told that the seventh population and housing census is the first digital census which is in accordance with the needs of the modern age. The digital census has an important role in comprehensive planning and policy making. In the modern era, the importance of digital data increases with the presence of digital systems in the government system.

The use of digitization in the seventh population and housing census will strengthen the element of transparency. Pakistan Statistical Institute, NADRA, Education Department, District Administration, Security, and other institutions are playing their role in the census.

For the convenience of the public, the date for the census has been extended to 15 May 2023. In the Seventh Population and Housing Census, 121,000 field staff across the country are taking part. In the meeting, challenges related to the census in various districts were also considered, and necessary steps were directed to solve them.

Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that census is a detailed count of the population. Quality data are needed for planning, development, and allocation of resources and the census is a good practice for obtaining such information that will be completed successfully.

The annual review meeting of ADP for the year 2023-2022 is going on in the Department of Planning and Development under the chairmanship of Mr. Khayyam Hasan Khan, Secretary Planning and Development Department. Consultative Meeting on ADPs 2022-23 & 2023-24

A consultative meeting was held on the annual development program for the year 2022-23 and 2023-24 in the Department of Planning and Development on the special instructions of the caretaker Minister for Planning and Development Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Hamid Shah. The meeting was attended by the additional chief secretary KP, provincial ministers, and secretaries.  

  Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Zubair Asghar Qureshi gave a detailed briefing on the new annual development program including the status of the current annual development program as a whole to the provincial ministers. Various projects of agriculture, endowments, board of revenue, clean water, energy and power, environment, health, food, transport, tourism, etc. were discussed in the meeting. In the meeting, caretaker ministers were informed about the challenges of development projects in view of limited resources.

Caretaker Minister for Planning and Development Syed Hamid Shah took all the ministers into confidence regarding their respective departments in the annual development program and appreciated the cooperation and role of all the ministers in this regard and said that the instructions set by the Election Commission are to pay attention to  the development of the province, especially the development planning of the merged districts in the annual development program keeping in mind the limited resources.

Meeting on Public Health Engineering

A meeting was held on Public Health Engineering under the chairmanship of Minister for Planning and Development and Public Health Engineering Syed Hamid Shah, Secretaries of P&D, and Public Health Engineering,  and officials of concerned departments also participated in the meeting.

Senate Functional Committee Meeting on Transfer of Powers

A meeting of Senate Functional Committee on Transfer of Powers was held in Civil Secretariat Peshawar.
Chairman Functional Committee Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Senator Haji Hidayatullah Khan, Senator Nuzahat Sadiq, Senator Taj Haider, Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and other related administrative secretaries and officers participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, the powers transferred to the provinces after the eighteenth constitutional amendment, the challenges faced, and other issues were discussed.
On the first day of the meeting, a briefing was given to the functional committee regarding the details of the departments, employees, assets and their use and current situation transferred from the federal government to the provinces after the eighteenth amendment.
The meeting was also informed in detail about the powers given to the province and their transfer to the lower level. Suggestions regarding making the role of Common Interests Council more effective were also considered in the meeting.
The purpose of the meeting was to ensure that the resources transferred to the province can be used effectively. The Senate Functional Committee was also briefed about the progress so far after the 18th Amendment and all the details in this regard. The Senate Functional Committee on Transfer of Powers is being briefed about a total of 19 departments.
