Preparatory meeting for Project Steering Committee (PSC) was held under the Chairmanship of Director General- Sustainable Development Unit, P&D Department on 7th August, 2025, in the Committee Room of SDU, P&D Department. Project Director RIP-KP appraised the forum about the ongoing and completed interventions in district Nowshera, and Haripure. Mr. Thorstan, Country Director, KFW, and Aron Muller KFW also attended the meeting virtually. The Technical Mission meeting of the World Bank-funded National Health Support Program (NHSP) was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Adeel Shah, Secretary of the Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In the meeting, the ongoing progress was reviewed and status of DLI/DLR was discussed. Additionally, there was a follow-up on the stunting reduction pipeline for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The World Bank Mission showed satisfaction with performance. Secretary P&D directed relevant officials to take necessary action in order to accomplish project target within timeline.
An important step of the provincial government is to provide convenience to flood victims. Launch of a special app for online payment of compensation for damages to the victims. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur officially launched the digital payment system. The app, called “Digital Disaster Compensation Management”, has been developed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board. This system has been linked to the provincial government’s central service delivery app Dastak. Through the app, compensation for damaged properties will be paid directly and online to the flood victims. Through this online system, the victims will be able to claim compensation by uploading the details of their property damage themselves. This app consists of a completely transparent and automated mechanism, which will make it possible to provide compensation to the victims in a timely and transparent manner. Briefing Due to the facility of geo-tagging, the provision of wrong information or a claim will not be possible. Verification of damages and compensation will also be done automatically through the app. This is a completely paperless and cashless system under which compensation will be paid online. Meeting on preventive measures regarding GLAAF (Glacial Lake Outburst Floods) chaired by Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah. A detailed briefing on the situation of GLAAF in the mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was held in the meeting. The meeting was attended by Secretary P&D, Secretary Relief, DG PDMA, Chief Economist P&D. Deputy Commissioners of Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper Dir, Swat, Upper Kohistan districts participated in the meeting through video link. Upper Chitral is included in the high-risk area. Briefing Preventive measures should be ensured in the areas of Utrur, Mittaltan, Kalam in Swat, Madkalasht, Arkari in Lower Chitral, Kumrat in Upper Dir, Kandiya in Upper Kohistan, where there is a risk. Chief Secretary All districts facing the potential threat of GLAAF should submit a daily status report to the Chief Secretary’s Office. Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Development Department, Mr. Ikramullah Khan, signed a Multi-year Workplan (2025-2027) of UNICEF. It is pertinent to know that under this workplan, interventions will be carried out in health, WASH, education, and social welfare etc. Secretary Planning and Development Department and representatives from UNICEF were present at occasion.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur chaired a meeting on priority development projects. Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development and Administrative Secretaries of the concerned departments participated in the meeting. • The meeting identified important public service delivery projects to be completed during the current financial year. These priority projects include projects in health, education, drinking water, communication, irrigation, relief and other sectors. • The provincial cabinet has allocated an additional Rs 20 billion for the early completion of these priority and nearing completion projects. The purpose of allocating additional funds for these development projects is to complete them quickly and make them operational. These are urgent projects for the provision of public services. Their timely completion is a top priority so that service delivery to the people can start without delay. Ali Amin Gandapur • The additional funding that has been provided to projects nearing completion in the last 3 months of last year has yielded significant results. From the beginning of this year, funds will be released under this formula so that projects nearing completion can be completed this year itself. The provincial government wants to complete projects nearing completion immediately so that there is no delay in service delivery. Ali Amin Gandapur • Wise use of funds allocated for development projects and determination of priorities in the use of development funds are very important. Those projects on which 80 percent of the work has been completed should be fully funded and completed soon. Peshawar Uplift Task Force Meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa A meeting of the Task Force formed by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur for the development and improvement of Peshawar district was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah. The meeting was attended by Member National Assembly Asif Khan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Muhammad Asim Khan, Secretary Planning and Development, Commissioner Peshawar Division, PDA, WSSP heads, and other relevant officials. The Task Force will coordinate the development initiatives of various departments in Peshawar, including the improvement efforts of the authorities, building control and monitoring the implementation of the Peshawar Master Plan. In addition, suggestions for Peshawar traffic management and other issues were also considered in the meeting. The DG PDA gave a briefing on the beautification of the city, ongoing development projects and capacity building of the institution. It was decided in the meeting that the beautification and cleanliness of Peshawar will be improved on priority basis and the efforts of all the relevant departments will be coordinated for this purpose. The DG PDA informed that after a comprehensive survey, packages have been prepared for the overall beautification of the city, which will be implemented soon. The forum directed that all drainage channels be cleaned through a campaign coordinated with WSSP so that urban flooding can be prevented during the rains. In the meeting, it was decided to give top priority to the completion of the ring road and other linkages to solve urban traffic problems so that traffic pressure is reduced and citizens can get better travel facilities. In the meeting, it was decided to formally notify all service delivery measures of the PDA and establish an effective call-back mechanism so that public complaints can be monitored satisfactorily. The DG PDA informed that all payments of the authority will be shifted to a cashless system by December, while internal affairs will be made paperless by September 30. The meeting suggested that water and sanitation services be outsourced to promote better competition and efficiency, while the establishment of an enforcement directorate was also considered. The forum suggested introducing regular open courts and an AI-based complaint registration system to enhance citizen engagement, so as to restore public confidence and increase convenience. The Chief Secretary urged all stakeholders to collectively fulfill their responsibilities to make Peshawar a modern, safe and better liveable city and ensure timely reporting and progress.
On September 1, 2025, the Director General, SDU, chaired a meeting with the District Administration and Heads of Line Departments to review the PC-I for the proposed Integrated Area Development Package for District Bara. Participants discussed proposed interventions for the economic uplift of District Bara, Khyber, and the District Administration was directed to finalize the PC-I.
