Meeting With World Bank Regarding KPEC

A meeting with the World Bank Implementation Support Mission regarding the Khyber Pass Economic Corridor (KPEC) project was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Adeel Shah, Secretary of the Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Secretary was briefed on the progress made so far. It was emphasized that the project should be implemented at the earliest and its pace expedited on both components , given its significant importance for the region and beyond.

Meeting With SAFRON

A meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Ameer Muqam, Minister for State & Frontier Regions (SAFRON) at his ministry, Islamabad, wherein ministers of different portfolios, elders of Erstwhile FATA, and social activists participated in the meeting. Director General, Sustainable Development Unit, P&D Department, Mr. Khalid Zaman, joined the meeting virtually. In a meeting, a detailed deliberation was made towards a roadmap for inclusive, accountable, and constitutionally aligned dispute resolution in newly merged districts. The forum was also acquainted with the initiation of the Accelerated Implementation Program (AIP) introduced in 2019, with the aim to foster the livelihood of vulnerable people of FATA in terms of revitalization of infrastructure, health sector, education, and sustainable development. The Chair also put forward suggestions to nourish AIP, and prioritize those schemes guaranteed to bring people betterment, sustainable growth, and live enhancement.

3rd PDWP Meeting Held From 1st To 3rd September 2025

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government committed to the uniform development of the province, 44 development projects worth over Rs 75 billion approved in PDWP meeting
On the special instructions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, a very important water supply and sanitation scheme was approved for Bannu district at a cost of Rs 1 billion. The project will ensure water supply to about 84,322 residents. Moreover, about 6,000 people will get access to improved sanitation services, which will significantly increase public health and hygiene. The project will meet a critical need of the district and reflects the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of the citizens.
The third meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ikramullah Khan.
The meeting was attended by PDWP members and officers of the concerned departments. The forum approved 44 important projects related to health, relief and rehabilitation, transport, education, interior, sports, livestock and irrigation for the development of the province.

The World Bank Portfolio Review’s Meeting

The World Bank Portfolio Review’s meeting was held at the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today, under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Mr.Ikramullah Khan. The meeting was attended by a high-level delegation, including relevant Secretaries, World Bank’s Country Director, Ms. Bolormaa Amgaabazar, Operations Manager, Mr. Gailius Draugelis, and representatives from various departments and the World Bank.
Additional Chief Secretary expressed welcome words for newly appointed country director.
During the meeting, the progress of ongoing projects was jointly reviewed, with a focus on their implementation status, achievements, and challenges. The participants also discussed and agreed upon an action plan for new projects, aligning with the province’s development priorities.
The Additional Chief Secretary directed the project directors to expedite the implementation of ongoing projects, ensuring timely completion and achievement of their objectives. He emphasized the importance of effective project management, coordination, and quality work.
Furthermore, the Additional Chief Secretary assured that his office, along with all relevant Secretaries, would extend full facilitation and support to the World Bank, ensuring seamless execution of projects and fostering a productive partnership.

PSC Meeting of The Regional Infrastructure Fund (RIF-KP)

The Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting of the Regional Infrastructure Fund (RIF-KP) was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Ikramullah Khan, Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The interventions in Districts Haripur and Nowshera were discussed. The Additional Chief Secretary lauded the valuable partnership with KfW and directed the relevant district administrations and officials to ensure the arrangement of human resources within the department, both currently and permanently for the future in order to supervise schemes. He added that the Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, would liaise with the Finance Department and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the project’s pace and impact.
Notably, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with assistance from KfW, is working on the project, which includes components such as roads, capacity building, and tube wells.

2nd PSC Meeting of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework

The 2nd Provincial Steering Committee meeting of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework was held today under the co-chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan, and UN Provincial Program Team Chair, Dr Babar Alam.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders from the government, UN agencies, and development partners to review progress, discuss challenges, and chart future directions for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed the implementation status of ongoing projects and initiatives, identified areas for improvement, and agreed on a way forward to accelerate progress towards achieving the SDGs. The Additional Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts and effective implementation to achieve the SDGs. He also highlighted the need for innovative solutions, partnerships, and data-driven decision-making to drive sustainable development in the province.
The Additional Chief Secretary noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is highly vulnerable to climate change and working on resilient infrastructure is the need of the hour. He also emphasized that the liaison and communication between the government and UN agencies are significant and will bring fruitful results.

District Development Review Meeting

The forum reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparent planning, equitable resource distribution, and timely execution of development projects across all districts. All Deputy Commissioners and representatives from district administrations attended the meeting, reflecting their commitment to the development agenda. District administrations were directed to prioritize scheme identification under ASDI, ensure proper geo-tagging and documentation, and work proactively for efficient service delivery to the people.
