The passing out ceremony of the first batch of Skills Trainings under Kohat Division Development Project (KDDP) was held at the auditorium of Kohat University of Science and Technology. A total of 340 students completed skills training from TEVTA vocational colleges in Kohat division. Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash attended the function as the chief guest. Secretary P&D Shah Mehmood Khan, Commissioner Kohat Division, Deputy Commissioner Kohat were also present on this occasion. First batch passed out students are eligible for Solar System Installation & Repair, JPS Assembly & Repair, Home Appliance Repair, Mobile Repair, General Electrician, Auto Lecturer, Plumbing & Pipe Fitting, Mechanic (Motorcycle), Embroidery & Beautician trained. Finally, the honorable guest Mr. Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Shahzad Khan Bangash distributed certificates and toolkits among the students.
A delegation of the World Food Programme led by Ms. Rathi Palakrishnan, Deputy Country Director WFP Pakistan called on Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan to discuss the UN-WFP Pakistan Country Strategic Plan (2023-27). During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary was briefed on the plan, which aims to address food security and nutrition needs in Pakistan. The plan focuses on key themes such as livelihoods, social protection, food systems and humanitarian response.
Under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan, a video link meeting was held with the World Bank team, headed by Mathew Verghis South Asia Regional Director for Equitable Growth, Finance, and Institutions.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary P&D, Secretary Finance, Secretary ST&IT, Secretary Excise, and other officials from both sides, discussing the World Bank portfolio across the province.
With the support of SDP team of UNDP & USAID, a capacity building training was held for the staff of the Monitoring & Evaluation Directorate, Planning & Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The training emphasized on enhancing the process of tracking resources and providing the staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to improve their planning, monitoring, and evaluation practices.
Upon the directions of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a coordination meeting was held regarding relief assistance to earthquake effected people of Turkiye and Syria under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan. Secretaries, Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and other relevant officials attended the meeting. It was decided in meeting to strengthen coordination among stakeholders and engage people of all walks of life in order to assist people of Turkiye and Syria in this testing time.
A coordination meeting was held, chaired by the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Imdadullah Bosal to strengthen relief efforts for the earthquake-affected people in Turkiye and Syria. The meeting reviewed the mechanism for streamlining the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s activities in supporting the earthquake-affected people in Turkiye and Syria. The Additional Chief Secretary, relevant secretaries and officials also attended the meeting.
The Project Steering Committee Meeting, chaired by Mr. Ikramullah Khan, the Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, discussed the physical and financial progress of three important programs: “Save the Calf,” “Feedlot Fattening,” and “Poverty Alleviation through Development Of Rural Poultry.” These initiatives are set to enhance food security, create self-employment opportunities, improve meat production, and contribute to the socioeconomic uplift of the province.
Under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan, a meeting was held to discuss “The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Systems Strengthening Program”. The program’s aim is to improve the quality of secondary hospital services and increase access to essential health services in the region. During the meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary was briefed about the program.
A training, at divisional headquarter level, was organized by GIS Hub, Planning and Development Department with the support of Governance & Policy Project for Merged Districts to train the line departments on GIS Decision Support System. This system is currently used to collect all departments’ data and then to use it for improved decision making, avoid duplication of work, and informed decisions in the appraisal process of ADP schemes. In the first phase 25 trainees of line departments from Peshawar, Mohmand, Khyber, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda and Nowshera are participating in the two days long training.
The second phase of divisional headquarter training on the GIS Decision Support System was completed. 25 trainees attended the training from the Kohat division. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kohat Ms. Reena Soherwordi distributed certificates among the participants.
