One of the top priorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the Jhangra Dam, has been completed in Abbottabad district. The project was completed by the Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with the concerned line departments.
The dam has been constructed on the Jhangra Khor, which is located near Jhangra village and about 8 miles east of Kakol. A main canal has also been constructed under the project, which will irrigate 2,000 acres of cultivable land. The total cost of the project is Rs. 85 crore.
The completion of the Jhangra Dam will boost the agriculture sector. Farmers will be provided with regular irrigation facilities, which will increase crop production. The project will provide new employment opportunities to the local people, stabilize the rural economy and usher in a new era of prosperity in the area. Moreover, the effective use of water will also help in controlling the flood situation and protecting the environment.
