World Bank Portfolio Review Meeting

The World Bank Portfolio Review Meeting was held at the Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Ikramullah Khan and attended by World Bank Country Director Mr. Najy Benhassine and Operations Manager Mr. Gailius Draugelis, relevant secretaries, Chief Economist, Project Directors and representatives from sections and departments.
Chief IDS, Dr. Muhammad Ehtisham Ul Haq provided a detailed briefing on the progress and targets of ongoing projects. The attendees jointly reviewed the progress of these projects and agreed on an action plan to ensure their successful implementation.
The Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Ikramullah Khan directed Project Directors to expedite the implementation of ongoing projects to achieve project objectives.

SCM of SEED Program

The Steering Committee Meeting of the Sustainable Energy & Economic Development (SEED) Programme convened at the Planning & Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Ikramullah Khan.
Different activities of last work plan were reviewed and new work plan was approved. The Additional Chief Secretary appreciated efforts of SEED for the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

9th PDWP Meeting Held on 27th December 2024

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is committed to the uniform development of the province by approving several development projects in the PDWP meeting. The PDWP approved Ehsaas Hunar Program at a cost of about 3 billion rupees to employ the skilled youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the construction of 26 km road in Chitral district.

The Provincial Development Working Party approved the Ehsaas Hunar Program at a cost of about 3 billion rupees to make the skilled youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa employable. Under the program, interest-free loans of up to Rs. 5 lakh will be given to skilled youth for business. More than 35 thousand skilled youth in the province will benefit from the program.

A project was approved for Rs 2.9 billion for the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and improvement of a 26 km road from Arandu to Calcuttak Lowari in the Chitral district.

The ninth meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ikramullah Khan in which several development projects were approved. Members of PDWP and officers of the concerned departments attended the meeting. The forum approved important projects related to irrigation, education, health, social welfare, and local government for the development of the province.

The command area for small dams completed under the Accelerated Development Program was approved. Improvement and rehabilitation of flood protection structures, bridges and existing structures on river Swat and nearby rivers in Tehsil Matta District Swat.

Rehabilitation and improvement of CRBC and Paharpur canal system in Dera Ismail Khan District. Construction and Feasibility Study of Solar Lift Irrigation Schemes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rehabilitation and reconstruction of damaged flood structures and channels in Swat, Shangla, and Buner districts, Construction and improvement of flood protection works, channels, tube wells, and crossing facilities in Tehsil Alpuri and Bisham District Shangla as per requirement. Improvement of irrigation facilities in Swat district, Development and construction of causeway and FPW, research studies, consultancies, surveys, detailed design, Establishment of Chief Minister Delivery Unit, Establishment of Government College of Commerce Dagar Bonir, Reconstruction of Agriculture Research Institute (ARI) Mengura Swat under Saudi Fund for Development Projects, Rehabilitation of Veterinary Research and Disease Investigation Center Balogram Swat, Primary Health Center Hayasrai Ko Category-D Hospital, Upgrading in late lower, Construction of Thalassemia Department at District Headquarters Butkhela Malakand, Construction of Special Children’s School with Special Children, Teacher Training School, Establishment of Monitoring and Development System in Swat Malakand Division, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Construction of blacktop road in Wana of South Waziristan district. Construction of Blacktop Road in Sub-Division Tank, Provision of EMOs in secondary hospitals in merged areas; Addition of 100 specialists (consultants) for health facilities in the merged districts. Strengthening and capacity building of PHED including establishment of Sector Reforms Unit in PHE Department, construction/rehabilitation of water supply and sanitation schemes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Phase-II), Provision and cleaning of sewerage schemes in Dera Ismail Khan, Approval of scheme to support special initiatives in Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, establishment of 5 model schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to be worked on in Kirk, Haripur, Charsadda, Hangu, and Bitgram. Purchase of land for cemeteries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 03 Pilot project for establishment of model religious schools, Establishment of computer labs in registered religious schools of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Construction of Batkhela Bypass Road from Sukai Bridge to Khodaguzo Bridge Terai, Batkhela Tutakan Kulangi Section Malakand District Road Rehabilitation, Width of Boni Bizand Torkho Road District Chitral Upper, Rehabilitation of Hasukhel and Boya Bridge in North Waziristan and others were also approved in the meeting while upgradation and rehabilitation of Lawrencepur Tarbela Road was cleared for PSDP.

A Meeting With Sub-Governance Team

The Planning and Development Department, under the chairmanship of Secretary Mr. Shahidullah Khan, convened a meeting with the Sub-National Governance (SNG) team to deliberate on Public Investment Management Assessment (PIMA) and Climate PIMA. The session aimed at strengthening public investment management institutions, identifying gaps, and developing a prioritized action plan to enhance climate-resilient infrastructure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Secretary P&D was briefed on the suggested PIMA and Climate PIMA questionnaires.
The meeting reaffirmed the department’s commitment to sustainable development, robust public investment strategies, and fostering inclusive stakeholder participation to achieve these goals effectively.

The 11th PDWP Meeting Held on 7th February 2025

The 11th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ikramullah Khan in which several development projects were approved.
The meeting was attended by PDWP members and officers of the concerned departments. The forum approved important projects of various sectors for the development of the province.
The provincial development working party approved the expansion of the CTD provincial headquarters, the construction of a police station in Jani Khel, the project management unit for the Safe City Project Peshawar, the establishment of a regional training institute for the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the upgrading of the rural health center in Domel, Bannu, to a category D hospital, the improvement and construction of irrigation channels, solar tube wells, and flood protection structures in District Hangu. In addition, the master plan for urban centers in the divisional and district headquarters of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the construction of a sports stadium in Razakhel Betani Lakki Marwat were also approved in the provincial development working party meeting.
The provincial development working party also approved the plan for a tourist facilitation center and rest areas to promote tourism in the province. Development projects were also approved for the ATC branch in the Directorate of Archaeology, preservation of British-era heritage in documentary form, preservation of cultural heritage and preservation of archaeological sites in the merged districts, Gore Kathri Complex and Peshawar Walled City. The meeting also approved a plan for training and capacity building of the hospitality industry and tour operators. Skill development program for the merged districts under the accelerated development program, flood prevention projects in Tehsil Darosh, upgradation of 66 KV grid station to 132 KV grid station in Orakzai Kalay, Ghiljo, Alizai district Kurram and Sadda district Kurram.
Two separate road construction projects in North Waziristan, construction of 3.5 km road from Bypass Road to Sabzi Mewa Mandi via Darpa Khel Qasim Miran Shah North Waziristan, construction and feasibility study of Chaprial Bypass Road (2.5 km) District Swat, replacement of steel bridges with RCC pre-stressed bridges in merged districts, construction of Shaheed Sir to Ata Khor, Sir Kala to Bar Tiraj road and improvement of Batara to Shangra road District Buner were approved. The meeting approved the project at a cost of Rs 8 billion for the construction of roads in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting also approved the construction of 35 kilometers of technically and economically viable roads in DI Khan Division, widening and rehabilitation of the main Hangutal Road (Mamo Banda to Dilan Gargouri Road (22 kilometers).
The PDWP also approved the construction of court rooms, record rooms and offices in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Services Tribunal.
Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said on this occasion that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is taking practical steps to put the province on the path of development. Several development projects for public welfare are being approved in the province, the fruits of which should be delivered to the people by all departments.
