PDWP Meeting Held on 2nd October 2025

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is committed to the uniform development of the province. PDWP meeting approves 45 development projects worth over Rs 66 billion

On the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, a project worth Rs 1,000 million has been approved for the construction and development of the provincial capital. The project includes the improvement of road furniture and, renovation of green belts.

The meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ikramullah Khan. PDWP members and officers of the relevant departments attended the meeting. The forum approved 45 important projects related to health, population welfare, transport, interior, livestock and irrigation for the development of the province.

The approved projects include projects to promote dryland farming methods in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, promotion of sunflower to increase productivity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, promotion of use of agricultural machinery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, improvement of livestock productivity through artificial insemination in merged districts, genetic improvement of indigenous livestock through crossbreeding with foreign improved livestock breeds, improvement of livelihoods of people through livestock development in Hazara division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, feasibility study and construction of mini bypass from Karampul to the river bank via Kot Barara Amandi to Miranshah Road in Bannu district, feasibility study and construction of bypass road from Karampul to Miranshah Road via Hashni Kala, dualization of provincial highway S-8 in DI Khan district, Dakhin bypass from Zafarabad irrigation channel, 3.5 km Kambar bypass road in Lower Dir district. Construction of, widening and improvement of blacktop road from Dua Tui to Haider Kando (28 km), improvement, widening and improvement of Chakia Jangalan Sundar Kalrian Road and Shah Kel Garhi Piran Road in Mansehra District, construction and improvement of Sagram Bypass Road, Swat (3.25 km), rehabilitation of Gandhi Ashiq to Gandhi Umar Khan Road (11 km) in DI Khan District, improvement, widening and improvement of 12 km road from Sirajuddin Madrasa to Jan Khan Kale Bar Qambar Khel in Khyber District, construction of Bara Bypass Road from Nawgazy Baba to Sheikhan Sports Stadium Khyber, construction and blacktopping of Tang Khata Dherai Road (2 km) in Bajaur, design and construction and feasibility study of Nawrang Bypass Road, feasibility study for dualling of road from Qureshi Mor to Darya Khan Bridge, improvement and rehabilitation of Chashma Daratang Road via Kafirkot, from Mandera Bridge Doubling of road up to Almooz Sugar Mill (DI Khan Chashma Road), Feasibility study and design of Mastuj Broghal Bypass Road (153 km), Feasibility study for procurement of 50 electric buses for Peshawar BRT system, Preparation of Master Plan for Urban Centers (Divisional/District Headquarters) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rural Economic Transformation Project, Establishment of Chief Minister Policy Office (CMPO), Improvement of Infrastructure Monuments and Street Lights in Peshawar, Feasibility study design and construction of Mega Water Supply Scheme in Kohat: i) River Indus from UC Gambat, Khushal Garh and adjoining villages. ii) Feasibility study for mega water supply scheme from Mir Habib China to Meta Khan and adjoining villages of Kacha Pika, from Indus River to Darbukoch in Kohat (UC Surat, UC Mandori, UC Darmlak, districts Lower Dir, Upper Dir and Tehsil Kalam, settlement of land records in Swat, construction and development of police and CTD infrastructure in merged districts Phase I, construction of judicial complex in Swat, improvement and rehabilitation of Kachkot Canal System in District Bannu and feasibility study, improvement and rehabilitation of Canal Patrol Road and related works along both banks of Hazar Khani Branch Canal, establishment of Boys Campus of Model Institute for Street Children (Zamang Corps) in District Swat, Dera Ismail Khan and Abbottabad and Girls Campus in Peshawar, establishment of Darul Aman in District Lower Dir Timergara, National Health Support Program, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Investment and Institutional Assistance Under the project, construction of Tehsil Complex Khar, District Bajaur, establishment of 260 Family Welfare Centers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, establishment of 120 Family Welfare Centers in merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are included in the Provincial Development Working Party meeting.

A Series of Review Meetings on ADP are Underway in PND Department

A series of review meetings on the annual development program are underway in the P&D department these days.
The first quarterly review meeting of the annual development program 2025-26 was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ikramullah Khan.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the annual development program 2024-25 and the lasting impact of the last year’s projects on the people.
The meeting reviewed the implementation and progress of the development projects of the departments of Industries, Mines and Minerals, Labor, Science Technology and Information Technology, Energy and Power, Social Welfare, Environment, Forests, Sports and Tourism.
The Additional Chief Secretary issued instructions regarding the speedy and timely completion of the projects as per the timelines of the departments.

Provincial Polio Eradication Task Force Reviews Preparations for Upcoming Campaign

The meeting of the Provincial Task Force on Polio Eradication was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development, Ikramullah Khan. The meeting reviewed preparations for the upcoming anti-polio campaign commencing on October 13 as well as the outcomes of the previous drive.
Senior officials from the Health Department, Provincial and National Emergency Operations Centers (EOC), district administrations, police, and partner international organizations working in the health sector attended the meeting.
Briefing the participants, the Provincial EOC Coordinator said that all arrangements for the four-day campaign had been finalized. The drive will be carried out across the province in two phases, targeting over 7.3 million children under the age of five.
In the first phase starting on October 13, children in all districts of Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Malakand, and Hazara divisions will be administered polio drops. The second phase will begin on October 20, covering all districts of Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan divisions. To boost children’s immunity, Vitamin A doses will also be provided during the campaign.
A total of 35,248 trained polio workers have been deployed for the campaign, including 32,008 mobile teams, 1,836 fixed teams, and 1,404 transit teams. In addition, 8,279 area in-charges have been appointed for effective supervision. Around 50,000 security personnel will be deployed across the province to ensure foolproof security for the vaccination teams.
Addressing the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Ikramullah Khan directed concerned departments to ensure a well-coordinated and organized campaign by utilizing all available resources and ensuring monitoring at every level. He appealed to parents to fully cooperate with vaccination teams so that no child remains vulnerable to the crippling disease.

PSC Meeting On KP-RIISP

The Project Steering Committee Meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Investment and Institutional Support Project was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Ikramullah Khan, Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. During the meeting, the progress made so far of respective department was reviewed. The annual work plan for 2025-26 and operational manual for the Project were approved. The Additional Chief Secretary emphasized the need to ensure the project’s impacts benefit the general public and maximum population ,and directed to expedite activities.

A Meeting Regarding KPHSSP

A meeting regarding the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health System Strengthening Program (KPHSSP) and Revamping of Non-Teaching DHQ Hospitals, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Ikramullah Khan, Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. During the meeting, the focus was on enhancing collaboration among departments and stakeholders to ensure the due pace of progress. The Additional Chief Secretary directed representatives of C&W and Finance Department to provide necessary facilitation for the project to achieve targets within specified timelines.

A Meeting Regarding Finding of KP-SPRING

A meeting was held in the Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under the chairmanship of Secretary Health, Mr. Shahidullah, to discuss the findings of recent research conducted by Health section KP-SPRING in the districts of Peshawar and Swabi on the prevalence and determinants of stunting among children. The Chief Economist, P&D, Mr. Arifullah Awan, was also present in the meeting along with representatives from various sections of P&D. The session brought together key health officials, nutrition experts, and development partners to review evidence-based insights and formulate actionable strategies to address the issue.
The research findings presented highlighted the high prevalence of stunting in the two districts, emphasizing several key determinants, including maternal health and nutrition before and during pregnancy, inadequate infant and young child feeding practices, poor sanitation and hygiene conditions, low household income and food insecurity, and limited access to healthcare and awareness.
Secretary Health, Mr. Shahidullah, appreciated the efforts of the research teams and underscored the urgent need for coordinated, evidence-based interventions to reduce stunting rates. He advised the formulation of a comprehensive provincial plan focusing on strengthening maternal and child nutrition programs, enhancing community-based awareness campaigns, improving water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure, and expanding research to other districts for comparative analysis and better targeting of interventions.
The meeting concluded with a consensus to develop a multi-sectoral action plan aimed at reducing stunting prevalence and ensuring sustainable child health and nutrition outcomes across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Wrap-Up Meeting With the ADB Special Project Administration Mission

A wrap-up meeting with the ADB Special Project Administration mission for the 300 MW Balakot Hydropower Project (HPP) was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan. He emphasized that this flagship project is already on the KP Good Governance Road Map, aiming to provide clean and green energy for social and economic uplift in the region. The ACS assured P&D support for regular project review meetings to keep the project on track and ensure its timely completion, given its significant importance.

ADB Portfolio For KPK Was Reviewed

The Asian Development Bank Portfolio for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was reviewed under the Chairmanship of Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Adeel Shah.
The ADB mission was led by the Deputy Country Director Pakistan. Chief IDS, and Project Directors attended the meeting.
The ADB team lauded the partnership and appreciated the progress on ongoing projects in KP and emphasized the importance of project disbursement and compliance. Secretary P&D stressed the need for timely project completion and directed Project Directors to ensure that the projects remain on track.
The pipeline projects for 2026 and 2027 were also discussed.

6th PDWP Held on 25th October 2025

The sixth meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ikramullah Khan.
The meeting was attended by PDWP members and officers of the concerned departments. The forum approved 96 important projects related to roads, primary and secondary and higher education, health and urban development for the development of the province.

Among them, several road schemes were approved to enhance connectivity and promote economic development across the province. The approved projects are expected to improve overall infrastructure, facilitate trade and promote economic activities in the region. The schemes will not only provide better access to remote areas but will also open new avenues for trade and industry, which will ultimately contribute to the economic development and prosperity of the province.
