Second Phase of Peshawar Uplift Program

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has officially approved the implementation of the proposed new schemes under the second phase of the Peshawar Uplift Program while directing to ensure timely and quality completion of the already ongoing schemes including the Hayatabad Trail. He also stressed on the need for a formal maintenance and management plan to make the measures taken for the beautification of Peshawar lasting and effective and said that the uplifting of the provincial capital Peshawar is among the priorities of the government. The Chief Minister directed to take action against the professional beggars in Peshawar and clarified that in order to permanently solve this problem, the leading elements and groups of professional beggars need to be curbed. While presiding over a meeting, the Chief Minister said that it is not enough to just round up the professional beggars, but concrete steps should be taken to remedy this problem in general. The Chief Minister said that due to the action in Peshawar, professional beggars will move to other districts, which need to be closely monitored and action taken against them. Earlier, while briefing the meeting regarding the progress on various projects under the Peshawar Uplift Program, it was informed that progress is being made on about 20 different schemes under the program, the detailed design of which has been approved by the relevant forum and the next week. The tender for these schemes will also be issued within. The meeting was informed that the project of six km long Hayatabad Trail is of great importance which will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore. Apart from jogging and cycle tracks, other facilities including public toilet, tuck shop, kid zone, open gym, badminton and basketball courts, library, ladies gym and skating area will be provided in Hayatabad trail. It will be a one-of-a-kind and state-of-the-art project with 18 feet wide tracks, green belts on both sides. Other projects under the program include beautification of Iqrachowk (University Road), Town Market Park Avenue, construction of Tiga Chowk Park Avenue from University Town, beautification of Pulausai Road Intersection and Pulausai University Road to Zoo, Khyber Teaching Hospital to University Model College. Important projects like road beautification are included. Apart from this, through the Archeology Department, the Agriculture Training Institute, Guard House and Government Hasnain Sharif Shaheed School No. 1 restoration and renovation projects are also part of the program. Inauguration of Mobile App for Review and Monitoring of Ongoing Development Projects

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s revolutionary initiative to standardize the work of development projects. On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr Mahmood Khan, the Department of Planning and Development’s review and monitoring system has issued a mobile app to maintain the quality of development work in ongoing projects. All relevant data and details will be collected – Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Shahab Ali Shah formally inaugurated the mobile app in a special meeting at the Planning and Development Department. DG Monitoring and Evaluation Mohammad Bakhtiar Khan and other relevant officers participated in the meeting. The Additional Chief Secretary issued special instructions to the authorities concerned to monitor the rehabilitation projects in the flood-affected areas on a priority basis and to keep the departments informed about the progress on them regularly.

3rd PDWP Meeting Held on 28th September 2022

Commitment to uniform development of the province and numerous development plans for various districts were approved in the third session of the Provincial Development Working Party, projects worth more than 40 billion. The approval was given in the PDWP meeting presided over by Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr Shahab Ali Shah. On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr Mahmood Khan, projects like the construction of a 53 km road from Zira to Dabori in Orakzai district, the construction of a road from Swat Madin to Kalam district and a feasibility study for the construction of a tunnel from Dir Payin Maidan to Brawl district was approved. Completion of the projects will promote tourism, positively impact the socio-economic life of the people of the area and reduce the local uninterrupted traffic flow and travel time.

PDWP members and concerned departments participated in the meeting. The forum approved 80 projects related to C&W, Irrigation, Public Health Engineering, Health, Higher Education, Industry and Energy & Power for the betterment of the province.

Among the approved projects are the establishment of clinical laboratories (Grade-A) and X-ray facilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Establishment of a special technology zone in southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its feasibility study, Establishment of the KMU Institute of Health Sciences in Swat Mata District, District Swat Madin to Kalam Road Construction and Feasibility Study, Feasibility study for the construction of Dir Payin Maidan to Barwal Tunnel in Dir Lower District, Feasibility study of parking plaza near PHC, Designing and Construction, UC Balkot at Torgarh, Solarisation of mosques, madrassas, funeral homes and Eidgahs in Shingaldar, Bartoni, Harnel, Shatal, Jodba, Manjakot, Palusa, Kund Akazai, Mira Mada Khel Shadag, while the establishment of sports fields up to Union Council level in the merged districts. To work on the abilities and intellectual development of the students of religious madrasas, Extension of Gravity Water Supply Scheme from Laghar and Chin Ghaz Dam to various Union Councils of District Kirk. Treatment of poor cancer patients (Phase II), Establishment of Darul Aman in Chitral and Bannu, Establishment of a school for special children in District Mardan Katling. The effects of projects like the solarization of mosques in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including merged districts will be further improved.

Meeting Over Chief Minister Flood Relief Fund

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan presided over the Chief Minister Flood Relief Fund meeting. It was decided in the meeting to allocate 20 per cent of the collected money to flood victims in Balochistan province. “The people of Balochistan are our brothers, we will not leave them alone in this difficult time”, Mahmood Khan said.

UPU of P&D Department Procured PPE for All TMAs

The Urban Policy & Planning Unit, Planning & Development Department procured Personal Protectives Equipment (PPE) for all TMAs staff under the project “Promoting Sustainable Urban Development through Resilient Resource Management with a Participative Approach in Mansehra.”
The PPEs include uniform, safety shoes, surgical gloves, heavy gauge long gloves, safety glasses and long rubber shoes etc for drivers and sanitary workers. The PPEs distribution ceremony was held at the RRM Office of the project in presence of district administration representatives and Tehsil Municipal Officers of Tehsil Baffa, Oghi, Balakot, Mansehra and Darband of District Mansehra.
Wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will reduce employee exposure to hazards and improve their working efficiency.

4th PDWP Meeting Held on 31st October 2022

In the fourth session of the Provincial Development Working Party, projects worth 157 billion were approved. The approval was given in the PDWP meeting presided over by the Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr Shahab Ali Shah.

On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Mahmood Khan, the establishment of a paraplegic centre in Swat, in which the physical rehabilitation and treatment of patients affected by paralysis and head injuries will be done, while in Kuram Muzaffar Kot district, a number of civil hospitals including reconstruction and various upgradation plans of hospitals were approved.

PDWP members and concerned departments participated in the meeting. The forum approved 80 projects related to C&W, Irrigation, Public Health Engineering, Health, Mines and Minerals and Agriculture for the betterment of the province.

Among the approved projects are a Feasibility Study for a dual carriageway from the Indus Highway to Bannu city in terms of roads and bridges, Detailed engineering design and construction, Spain Muzak through Ammar Reghazi in Tehsil Sararogha, District South Waziristan. Blacktopping of 10 km of road from Kachara to Tri Faridai via Khaldi and beyond. Construction of Flyover in District Swabi Shiva Adda, Construction and maintenance of roads in Nowshera district, Construction of Swabi Jahangira Road Bridge over Kabul River. Feasibility Study and Detailed Engineering Design for Construction of Inter-District Road from Torghar to Bunir District, Construction of Black Top Road from DI Khan Darazanda to Danishabad Sub Division, Construction of 7 km road from South Waziristan Sararogha Road to Bilalabad Haibat Khel and road from Band Khel to Habib Koruna to Tabe Zangara South Waziristan.

Tribal Lead Development Program in the Local Government Sector, Drinking water supply and rural work program in the newly merged districts and sub-divisions, construction, improvement and maintenance of water supply and sanitation schemes in Baizai and Batkhela districts of Malakand Tehsil in the field of public health engineering. Electricity, Gas, Fire Fighting System Lumpsum, Plumbing Works, Development Charges and Supervision in Hostel under Establishment and Administration Sector Supply of Equipment for District Dir Bala Category-C Hospital Warai and RHC Nahag Bandai in Health Sector and repair, the establishment of safe blood transfusion centres in Bannu, Mardan and Kohat; Reconstruction of Civil Hospital in District Karam Muzaffarkot, Upgradation of District Swat RHC Deolai to Category D Hospital and BHU Dairy, Rangmala to RHC level and construction of RHC Biha and RHC Gowalrai; and the construction of BHU Elm Bonair, Establishment of a Paraplegic Center in Swat for Malakand Division with wards for comprehensive physical rehabilitation of persons suffering from paralysis and head injuries, OPD, GYM, private room and office available, health card top-up for inclusion of bone marrow transplant and other diseases, Revamping of the drainage system and flood protection works in Swabi district in the irrigation sector. Construction of bridges, CPR, maintenance of irrigation and drainage system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and flood protection works, In the field of agriculture, the establishment of the agricultural complex on agricultural land in Upper Swat, characterization of genetic resources of cattle of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through genetic markers and molecular techniques.

Reconstruction of damaged schools in District Peshawar and District Karam Package One and Two, Acquisition of land for the establishment of Interior Police Line Ghilnai Mohmand and Shox, Construction of Command and Control Center for Ababil Force, Construction of District Complex and Offices in Upper Swat, Construction of District Judicial Complex in Kohat District, Loan program for facilitating mechanized mining and infrastructure development of shingle roads in the merged districts in the field of Mines and Minerals;  Identification of bottlenecks under improvement of Integrated Public Sector Management in Malakand Division related to rural development and feasibility study for river-related issues and establishment of River Protection Authority in Hazara and Malakand Division. Establishment of Climate Resilient Infrastructure Fund

Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa presided over the meeting of KP Flood Response Plan 2022. It was decided in the meeting that a Climate Resilient Infrastructure Fund may be established in the province through the funds. It will enable the provincial government to monitor any calamity relief and rehabilitation activities at the district, department and provincial levels.  

Due to the recent flood, the public sector suffered a loss of 77.6 billion rupees while the private sector suffered a loss of 42.5 billion rupees. Crops covering an area of ​​1 lakh 7 thousand acres were damaged due to recent floods.
