A meeting regarding the Merged Areas Governance Programme (MAGP) held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Muhammad Zubair Asghar Qureshi. The Additional Chief Secretary was briefed on different interventions of MAGP: accelerated development through the Accelerated Implementation Programme (AIP) and Special Emphasis Programmes, border governance and connectivity, and support to local governance.
The third quarter review meeting of ADP for the year 2023-2022 was held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the chairmanship of Secretary Planning and Development Department Mr. Khayyam Hasan Khan. The officers of the concerned departments participated in the meeting. The concerned sections of the Planning and Development Department informed the Secretary P&D about the progress in the projects and overall status of the projects. Secretary P&D issued instructions regarding expediting work on ongoing projects.
In today’s meeting, the projects of the Department of Primary and Secondary Education, Higher Education, Awqaf, Sports, Tourism, Transport, Agriculture, Establishment, Administration, Forestry, Environment and Livestock were reviewed.
The National Census has entered its final stages, and with the cooperation of the citizens, the whole process is progressing towards completion successfully. According to the data so far, 39,408,562 (39,408,562) people have been counted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Regarding the seventh population and housing census, a review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and Chief Senses Commissioner Naeem Al Zafar. In the meeting, the ongoing seventh population and housing census was reviewed in detail. Additional Chief Secretary KP, Provincial Senses Commissioner, Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and officials of the concerned departments participated in the meeting.
The Chief Secretary directed the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to complete the census on time and hold review meetings on a daily basis and share its report.
Chief Censuses Commissioner and Member Support Services Pakistan Statistical Institute briefed the meeting in detail about the action plan to complete the census process in the best manner.
The meeting was told that the seventh population and housing census is the first digital census which is in accordance with the needs of the modern age. The digital census has an important role in comprehensive planning and policy making. In the modern era, the importance of digital data increases with the presence of digital systems in the government system.
The use of digitization in the seventh population and housing census will strengthen the element of transparency. Pakistan Statistical Institute, NADRA, Education Department, District Administration, Security, and other institutions are playing their role in the census.
For the convenience of the public, the date for the census has been extended to 15 May 2023. In the Seventh Population and Housing Census, 121,000 field staff across the country are taking part. In the meeting, challenges related to the census in various districts were also considered, and necessary steps were directed to solve them.
Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that census is a detailed count of the population. Quality data are needed for planning, development, and allocation of resources and the census is a good practice for obtaining such information that will be completed successfully.
A follow-up meeting held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Muhammad Zubair Asghar Qureshi, to discuss the KP Reconstruction Program. Secretary Relief and other relevant representatives from departments attended the meeting. The aim of this program is to support the construction of schools and other activities related to health and relief. The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is actively working on implementing this program to benefit the community.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Muhammad Zubair Asghar Qureshi regarding the emergency recovery project for the rehabilitation of temporarily homeless people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The concerned officers also participated in the meeting. The Additional Chief Secretary was briefed regarding the various activities of the project and a detailed discussion was held on the current activities of the project and the provision of services in the future.
The annual review meeting of ADP for the year 2023-2022 is going on in the Department of Planning and Development under the chairmanship of Mr. Khayyam Hasan Khan, Secretary Planning and Development Department. In the meeting, the projects related to Mines and Minerals, Industries, and other sectors were discussed. In the meeting representatives of concerned departments and sections participated. The meeting briefed the secretary of P&D about the progress and overall status of the projects. The secretary issued necessary instructions regarding the discussed projects keeping in view the limited resources and public interest of the projects.
A consultative meeting was held on the annual development program for the year 2022-23 and 2023-24 in the Department of Planning and Development on the special instructions of the caretaker Minister for Planning and Development Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Hamid Shah. The meeting was attended by the additional chief secretary KP, provincial ministers, and secretaries. Â
 Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Zubair Asghar Qureshi gave a detailed briefing on the new annual development program including the status of the current annual development program as a whole to the provincial ministers. Various projects of agriculture, endowments, board of revenue, clean water, energy and power, environment, health, food, transport, tourism, etc. were discussed in the meeting. In the meeting, caretaker ministers were informed about the challenges of development projects in view of limited resources.
Caretaker Minister for Planning and Development Syed Hamid Shah took all the ministers into confidence regarding their respective departments in the annual development program and appreciated the cooperation and role of all the ministers in this regard and said that the instructions set by the Election Commission are to pay attention to the development of the province, especially the development planning of the merged districts in the annual development program keeping in mind the limited resources.
