9th PDWP Meeting

9th PDWP Meeting Held on 23rd December 2025

The ninth meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ikramullah Khan.
The meeting was attended by PDWP members and officers of the relevant departments. The forum approved 60 important projects related to roads, agriculture, social welfare, livestock, industries, health, forests and irrigation for the development of the province.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a water supply and drainage project worth Rs 500 million for the flood-hit Buner district. Under the project, clean water supply projects will be provided in Union Council Gulbandi and Pandera and work will be done on the improvement of streets and drains in Tehsil Gagra and Chagharzai.
On the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi, several road infrastructure projects were approved in the Provincial Development Working Party meeting to make the daily journey of citizens easier and safer and to enable access to remote areas through the improvement of roads across the province. 27 feasibility studies will be conducted under the projects.
A Rs 1.8 billion project has been approved for the improvement of water supply system and rehabilitation of structures on the Main Chashma Right Bank Canal in Dera Ismail Khan, which will benefit three lakh people.

Meeting on Development of Public Infrastructure in Merged Districts

A meeting regarding Development of Public Service Infrastructure in the Merged Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was convened in Planning and Development Department. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ikramullah Khan, Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Additional Chief Secretary was briefed on the implementation plan, activities, and timeline of the project. Additional Chief Secretary emphasised targeting the maximum number of beneficiaries and ensuring that resources and plans are aligned rationally. Annual Work Plan for the project was approved.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Local Government, Chief IDS, and MAGP UNDP representatives.

Provincial Government Successfully Concludes High-Impact PPP Roadshow

Investors, Contractors & Banks Show Strong Interest in Infrastructure Project
ISLAMABAD – The Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa announced the successful completion of a dynamic investors roadshow for the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project, a road connecting Indus Highway N-55 with Hakla D.I. Khan Motorway M-14. The event drew enthusiastic participation from leading construction firms, financial institutions, and private equity investors.
The roadshow, held at Islamabad, showcased the project’s detailed scope, financial arrangements, risk-sharing framework, and implementation timelines. The event provided a platform for stakeholders to engage with government officials and explore opportunities for collaboration.
“The Bannu Link Road Project is a testament to our commitment to improving regional connectivity and promoting economic growth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,”says Mr. Adeel Shah, Secretary, P&D Department.
Attendees included CEOs of Tier-1 contractors, senior bankers from national lenders, and investment fund managers, all expressing keen interest in participating in the project. The government’s transparent approach and commitment to de-risking the project through viability gap funding and land acquisition support were highlighted as key factors in generating investor interest.
”We are excited to partner with the private sector to deliver this critical infrastructure project, which will have a transformative impact on the lives of our people,” says Mr. Adeel Shah, Secretary, P&D Department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary Communication and Works Department stated,”Today’s roadshow was a resounding success. The response from the private sector validates our vision. This PPP Project is not only a fast-tracked critical infrastructure initiative but will also attract long-term, sustainable investment into our province.”
Investors praised the government’s clarity in documentation and commitment to supporting the project’s development. Several firms have already signaled their intent to participate in the upcoming bidding process.
“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s successful PPP portfolio, including the landmark Swat Expressway Phase I and Phase II projects, demonstrates our ability to attract private sector investment and deliver development goals,” says Mr. Shahzad Mehboob, Chief Public Private Partnership Unit, P&D Department.
The Bannu Link Road Project is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity, reduce travel time, and stimulate economic growth in the area. The project’s successful implementation is anticipated to set a precedent for future PPP initiatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

P&D Dept. Honors Officers in Transition Ceremony

A ceremony was held to honor officers of the Planning & Development Department who are moving on to new posts, retiring from service, or joining the department.

The event recognized the service of recently transferred officers from the Pakistan Administrative Service and Provincial Management Service, including Mr. Arifullah Awan, Mr. Kamran Khan, Dr. Tahir, and Mr. Khalid Zaman. The department also paid tribute to retired officers from the Provincial Planning Service, Mr. Amir Bashir, Mr. Imdadullah, and Mr. Sartaj Khan. The ceremony also served to welcome the newly appointed Chief Economist, Mr. Khalid Iqbal.

The chief guest, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Ikramullah Khan, presided over the ceremony. He expressed his best wishes to all the officers and extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed Chief Economist.

Secretary P&D Visited Ghazi and Haripur Health Projects

On the directions of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Secretary Planning and Development Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Adeel Shah visited the ongoing major health development projects in Hazara Division to review their progress and ensure timely completion.
The Secretary P&D inspected the project to upgrade Category D Hospital to Category C Hospital in Ghazi and the construction of Women and Children Hospital in Haripur. On this occasion, he reviewed the pace and quality of the ongoing construction work, expressed satisfaction over the progress but stressed the need for further acceleration.
Mr. Adeel Shah directed the concerned departments and implementing agencies to expedite the construction work, strictly follow the approved plans and stipulated timelines and immediately address the shortcomings identified during the inspection. He also stressed the importance of improving the facilities in the existing hospital buildings till the completion of the new infrastructure so that better medical facilities can be provided to the public.
The Secretary P&D assured full support from the Planning and Development Department for the timely completion of the projects and said that the provincial government is committed to strengthening the health sector and improving access to quality health facilities, especially for women and children.
Director General Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Mr. Usman Zaman, Deputy Commissioner Haripur Waseem Ahmed and Divisional Monitoring Officer (DMO) Hazara Syed Ali Raza Shah and other relevant officers were also present on the occasion of the visit. The officers briefed the Secretary about the details of the projects, progress status and issues faced.
Once completed, these projects will bring significant improvement in health facilities in the region and will play a major role in providing better medical services to the people of Ghazi, Haripur and surrounding areas.

Six Months Annual Review Meeting on ADP 2025-26

On the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi, a six-month review meeting was held in the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the Annual Development Program for the year 2025-26. The meeting was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan. The meeting was attended by secretaries and representatives of the concerned departments and other officials. The meeting reviewed the progress of the projects of various departments included in the Annual Development Program in detail.
The meeting reviewed the monitoring reports of various projects in detail and issued necessary instructions regarding the timely completion of the projects.
Important decisions were also taken in the meeting regarding the acceleration of the implementation of projects nearing completion so that the fruits of these projects can reach the people.
In the six-month review meeting in the Planning and Development Department, review meetings are being held on a daily basis on the development programs of various departments.
The Additional Chief Secretary issued instructions on this occasion that unnecessary delays will not be tolerated in the implementation of development projects. He said that for the uninterrupted completion of mega projects, their approval should be given in a phase-wise manner. While the Finance Department should ensure the availability of funds for these projects.
Secretary P&D Mr. Adeel Shah and Chief Economist Mr. Khalid Iqbal also attended the meeting.

A Meeting Regarding KPRMP & KP SPEED

A high-level meeting was held with the World Bank’s Regional Practice Director for Prosperity and team regarding the KPRMP and KP SPEED, chaired by Mr. Ikramullah Khan, Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Secretary Finance also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Project Director briefed the forum on achievements of two projects, highlighting the milestones covered and results achieved.
The Additional Chief Secretary highlighted the World Bank’s significant partnership with the government.
The Vice President acknowledged the leadership and team for their efforts, saying, “We appreciate the reforms and progress made so far.”
It was agreed in meeting to enhance cooperation and plan robust projects in future.

A meeting was held in honor of both the officers and good wishes were expressed by the department.
