KP Government Approved Various Development Projects

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government continues journey from promises to fulfillment: Approval of development projects in the light of Chief Minister Mehmood Khan’s instructions. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan directed to complete the northern part of Peshawar Ring Road as soon as possible. On the direction of the Chief Minister, the Provincial Development Working Party meeting approved the unfinished section of the northern part of Ring Road. The northern part of Ring Road consists of 8.70 km from Warsak Road to Nasir Bagh Road. The ring road from Warsak Road to Nasir Bagh will consist of 6 lanes and will be equipped with a service road. The total cost of the project is Rs. 16 billion which will be sent for CDWP approval. Billions of rupees have been saved.
Completion of the project will reduce traffic congestion in Peshawar city – the project includes construction of three bridges, two underpasses, flyover at Warsak Road Ring Road, flyover at Regi Plosai Road The meeting approved 20 projects worth Rs 29 billion. Other notable projects include setting up of 10 police stations, 3 check posts at a cost of Rs 1.35 billion in Malakand Division, Rs 1.3 billion in Harpur for the promotion of information technology in the province. Road approval from Katling Bazaar to Mardan at a cost of Rs 3.3 billion which will benefit 4 lakh population
The approved project of 16 km Kohat Road from Warsak Left Canal to Shamshuto Bilateral Road will also cost Rs 2 billion.
Under Skill Development Program at a cost of Rs. 1.4 billion in integrated districts, 5500 persons would be given Skill Development Program in Tourism, Technical, IT, Business.

Chief Minister Mehmood Khan directed to complete the northern part of Peshawar Ring Road as soon as possible to solve the traffic problems of Peshawar city.

Accelerated Skills Development program for the people of merged areas approved at a cost of PKR 1.4 Billion. Training will be imparted to 5500 individuals in the field of Tourism, IT, Businesses, Technical skills to enhance their capacity.

Review Meeting on the Beautification and Uplift of Divisional Headquarters of KP

Uplift and beautification projects worth over Rs. 5.5 billion have been completed in 6 divisional headquarters of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Work is underway on the uplift and beautification of all divisional headquarters in the light of the directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan.

A review meeting was held in the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding beautification and uplift projects of 6 Divisional Headquarters of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shehab Ali Shah. All the concerned Deputy Commissioners attended the meeting through video link. Under the project, projects worth over Rs. 5.5 billion have been completed in all the divisional headquarters so far. Under the beautification projects of the divisional headquarters, work is underway on 282 schemes.

Projects include rehabilitation of roads in all divisional headquarters, street lights, green belts, sidewalks, monuments, parks, gates, upgrade of sports grounds, closure of canals, construction and repair of streets and drainage projects. The meeting was informed that under the project, 37 projects have been implemented in Abbottabad, 69 projects in Bannu, 57 projects in Dera Ismail Khan, 43 projects in Kohat, 37 projects in Mardan and 61 projects in Swat. An additional Rs. 94 crore has been earmarked this year for beautification of Divisional Headquarters

Meeting on Peshawar Revival Plan

Meeting on Peshawar Revival Plan was chaired by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan. The meeting was briefed on the progress made so far in the implementation of projects under the Peshawar Revival Plan. The meeting decided to appoint Commissioner Peshawar as focal person to improve the pace of implementation of these projects. The Chief Minister directed the Commissioner Peshawar to self-monitor the implementation of these projects and submit a report every fortnight. The Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of implementation of these projects. There will be no compromise on concrete progress and timely completion of these projects, the Chief Minister said. All institutions should show solid progress for timely completion of their respective tasks. Paperwork alone will not work, says Mahmood Khan. We have less time and more work, the departments have to perform exceptionally well, the Chief Minister said. We have to perform exceptionally well to meet public expectations, Mahmood Khan said. Delay and negligence in completion of public welfare schemes will not be tolerated Chief Minister said. Everything is fine in the briefing and the situation on the ground is different, it will not work, Mahmood Khan said.

According to briefing under the Peshawar Revival Plan, work is underway in seven different areas including encroachment elimination, renovation, tree planting, and traffic flow. According to briefing 203 kanals of government land has been relinquished so far in operation against encroachments, Wall chalking has been cleared from 28 km walls. Standardized boards have been installed at 700 shops, More than 750 balconies and rafters have been removed, 6,000 flags have been removed from poles, 750 temporary cabins in the factory market have been removed. 550 shops in the parking lot were demolished. Work is underway to install LED lights on Ring Road.  More than 1.5 lakh saplings have been planted in different parts of Peshawar so far this year under tree planting campaign. PC-1 of various projects in the city under Cities Improvement Project has been sent to Central Development Working Party for final approval.

Meeting on Development Projects Tracking and Monitoring System

In light of the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced a system for tracking and monitoring important development projects. The process of tracking and monitoring development projects will help expedite work on projects and their timely completion. A meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shehab Ali Shah was briefed on the tracking system set up for progress on development projects with the help of various departments. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government introduces digital monitoring platform to expedite work on development projects and monitor progress on projects.

Under the system, tracking of 214 important projects has been started. 27 departments have entered information about their projects in the system. Special monitoring of progress and pace of work on projects will be carried out after approval in Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The digital monitoring platform will have details of public-private partnerships, federal government-funded projects, CPEC and international aid-initiated projects separately. Special Secretary P&D and Chief Economist will oversee the tracking system in the P&D department. Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan will be kept informed about the progress on development projects. Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also monitor the progress on projects.

Promotion of Economic Activities in the Urban Centers and Bazaars of Integrated Districts

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has finalized a Rs. 5 billion plan to promote economic activities in the urban centers and bazaars of the integrated districts and tribal sub-divisions. In a meeting held at the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding the development and uplift of integrated districts, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government discussed the development and uplift of markets for 7 integrated districts and 6 tribal sub-divisions at a cost of Rs. 5 billion. The work has started on a new project.

The urban centers of the integrated districts and sub-divisions will boost economic activities in these areas by upgrading the major markets. Video link meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shehab Ali Shah on the project in which Deputy Commissioners of all concerned districts presented their plans. Under the project, work will be done on upgrading of markets, solarization, and rehabilitation of sidewalks, sewerage projects, food streets, play areas, water projects, and rescue stations in the integrated districts. In today’s meeting, the projects of South Waziristan, North Waziristan, DI Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank sub-division were finalized.

42 uplift projects in Miranshah Bazaar, Razmak, Edak, Mir Ali, Spin Wam, Khadi, Datta Khel, Dosli, Shiva in North Waziristan at a cost of Rs. 140, Dera Ismail Khan sub-division Darazanda and Kohi Bhara projects costing Rs. 26 crore, Tank sub-division Jandola, Kari, Kari Wam, Khargai Bazar projects costing Rs. 25 crore, Nine projects costing Rs. 25 crore in Lakki Marwat sub-division Batani and uplift projects worth Rs. 36 crore for Bannu sub-division wazir were approved.

Notable projects include slaughter house in Miranshah Bazaar, work on park and green belts, and beautification of Mir Ali Bazaar, Mir Ali Hormoz Road, Rescue 1122 Wana, Rescue 1122 Center Nawaz Kot Makin, Street Pavement in Makin Bazar,Solar Lights, Drainage, Green Belts, Community Centers, in Wana Bazaar, Tanai Bazaar, Toi Khola Bazaar, Azam Warsak Bazaar, Lada Bazaar, Sararoga Bazaar, Kotkai Bazaar, Karma Bazaar, Sarokai Bazaar, Tiarza Bazaar, construction of  Jandola 1122 Station, Jandola Mini Sports Stadium, Walking track sidewalk and construction of toilets at Jandola, Curry, Curry Wam, Khargai, Sub Division Batani, in Bannu sub-division wazir work on projects in Gambati, Garbiz, Zarwam, Rocha, Jani Khel Mandi, Karam Garhi Bazaar will be carried out.
