Planning & Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Committed to Streamlining WASH Activities Under a Unified Plan
A meeting with UNICEF, Chief WASH Pakistan, Ms. Cindy Kushner and her team was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Islam Zaib.
The meeting reviewed ongoing WASH-related initiatives and deliberated on the way forward to streamline efforts and address sectoral challenges in a more organized and coordinated manner.
The Additional Chief Secretary was briefed on the trend analysis of water and sanitation, with a detailed discussion on urban, rural, and accessibility aspects across the province.
Representatives from ADB and the World Bank also attended the meeting and were consulted on interventions within the scope of their respective programs.
Emphasizing the need for integrated planning, the Additional Chief Secretary directed that a comprehensive WASH Plan be developed to cover all activities and timelines under a single framework. He further stressed the importance of addressing ground vulnerabilities to ensure sustainable outcomes.
The Additional Chief Secretary also directed that a meeting of the Joint Sector Review be convened at the earliest
