Country Director KFW Pakistan called on Shah Mahmood, Secretary Planning & Development, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In meeting different areas of cooperation were discussed. Priorities of government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa like renewable energy, urban development and environment, Women Empowerment, Livelihood Improvement and Skill Development were focused in meeting.
It was agreed to work on potiential available in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa particularly newly merged districts utilizing technical assistance of KFW. On the directions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is persistenly working with different partners in different sectors for the uplift of people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, like other sectors of the province, is working on the construction of wheat warehouses to provide an efficient and robust system of wheat supply to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Planning and Development Department, KP review and monitoring team reviewed the ongoing scheme in Tank district in this regard. Similar warehouses are being constructed in all the provinces and especially in the integrated districts on the special instructions of the Chief Minister KP.
The priorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the personal interest of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Mahmood Khan, for the improvement, ease and convenience of transportation in the province, a never-ending series of road improvements and new constructions has begun. Asphalt work is in full swing in Dir Banda Gai Talash district which will bring development and prosperity in the area.
The government is approving and implementing revolutionary development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as emphasizing quality and supervision in all these projects. On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Mahmood Khan, the Department of Planning and Development is continuously reviewing and monitoring in different districts and divisions. The Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Review and Monitoring Team is inspecting Rescue 1122 Station in Lower Kohistan District under 190363 # ADP.
Another revolutionary achievement of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. A feasibility study for the reconstruction of the Upper Swat Canal System has recently been approved by the 15th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party. The project will benefit the people of Malakand, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera and Charsadda districts. The existing canal system now irrigates 276,000 acres of land at a discharge of 1800 cusecs, while 315,000 acres of land will be irrigated at a discharge of 2400 cusecs. Reconstruction will increase crop yields, facilitate local farmers and create thousands of jobs.
A total of Rs 41.98 billion projects were cleared at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Development Working Party meeting.
In a special meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party, four projects for the federal PSDP program costing Rs 24.26 billion have been cleared. Apart from this, another project of Rs. 5 billion was also approved in the gas and power sector. This approval was given under the chairmanship of Mr. Shahab Ali Shah, Additional Chief Secretary, P&D Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Approved projects include projects such as the Thirty Breast Cancer Screening Clinics and four Breast Cancer Screening Centers for early detection of breast cancer through the establishment of a Central Regional Hub.
The meeting was attended by members of PDWP and relevant departments. The Forum approved six projects related to C&W, Rural Development, Health, Agriculture and Planning and Development Department for the betterment of the province.
Projects include diversion of road from Indus Highway to Bannu city, feasibility study, detailed engineering design and construction of road connecting Indus Highway (N-55) at Mangla Banda with Hakla York Motorway (M-14) at Klor. Includes (approximately 40 km) local promotion of vegetable and pulses seeds through public-private cooperation, gas development and expansion of high and low transmission lines, supply of transformers, maintenance of lines and high and low transmission of 11kv feeders and National Health Support Project Concept Note Clearance.
Country Head UN Women Pakistan, Ms. Sharmeela Rasool and UN Women Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Head, Ms. Zainab Qaiser Khan called on Additional Chief Secretary Planning & Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Shahab Ali Shah at Planning & Development Department.
The discussion of the meeting focused on women empowerment initiatives, bilateral cooperation and future collaboration to empower women in the province.
On the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Mahmood Khan, the Education City project in South Waziristan Barwand was finalized in the meeting of the second project steering committee in the planning and development department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. the meeting was presided over by Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr Shehab Ali Shah. This project with modern architecture and international standards will be equipped with all kinds of facilities. Education City will have excellent educational institutions as well as residential facilities, playgrounds, amusement parks, science and technology parks, sports complexes and hostels.Â
On the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Mahmood Khan, Department of Planning and Development, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has initiated a consultation process for the formation of Phase II of Accelerated Implementation Program (AIP) in all integrated districts.
Till now consultations has been held on a sub-divisional level with the local population in Wana, Ladha, Sir Waikai in South Waziristan District, Miranshah, Mir Ali, Razmak in North Waziristan District, Khar and Nawagai in Bajaur District, Central, Upper and Lower Kurram in Kurram District, Upper and Lower Orakzai in Orakzai District, Upper and Lower Mohmand in Mohmand District, and former FRs (Betni, Jandola, Dara Zinda, Wazir), as well as Dara Adamkhel, Hassan Khel and Landi in Khyber District. Local leaders, students and civil society are participating in these meetings.
The purpose of these consultative meetings is to ensure that public priorities and aspirations are taken into account in formulating plans for the second phase of AIP for the next three years after the ongoing AIP Phase I for the implementation of tribal development. So that development measures are in line with local needs and ground realities.
Through this process, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government intends to ensure public participation in the planning and development of integrated districts according to the views and aspirations of the people of integrated districts.
The mid-year review meeting of Annual Development Program 2022-2021 was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Shehab Ali Shah. The meeting was attended by heads and representatives of departments. The performance of the departments regarding development projects was reviewed in detail. On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, all the departments were urged to expedite the development projects, especially the high priority projects and complete them within the stipulated time. Monitoring and evaluation reports of the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also discussed.
