Meeting on Creation of Command Areas of Small Dams in KP

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shakeel Qadir Khan on creation of command areas of small dams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Creating a command area for small dams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will enable existing and new land to be cultivated. The meeting directed the section of Agriculture and Irrigation to work out a plan of action regarding the command area of various small dams to be completed.

Bank of Khyber Launched PayPlus Current Account for Government Employees

Bank of Khyber has launched PayPlus Current Account for all government / semi-government, permanent / contract employees of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The first of the unique features of the account is that the account allows customers to avail the facility of advance salary. The Bank of Khyber Pay plus Current Account is a unique account for the salaried class, which for the first time includes features that no other salary account provides. Under the advanced salary facility of PayPlus Current Account, the salaried class will be able to get 50% of their incoming salary on the 16th of every month.

The second feature is that under the PayPlus account, the customers will also get the facility of PayCon Free Salary Insurance under which the family of the account holder will continue to receive full salary for 3 months in case of any emergency.

Under the third feature, PayPlus account users can also avail bank assistance for filing tax returns at a discounted fee.

In addition, there is no minimum amount limit for opening a PayPlus bank account so that even low paid employees can benefit from the account.

Customers will also get the facility of free debit card, free check book, free interbank transfer, mobile banking, internet banking, and SMS alert.

The product launch ceremony was held at Bank of Khyber Head Office Peshawar on Tuesday where Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shakeel Qadir Khan, Chairman, Bank of Khyber Board of Directors, launched the PayPlus Current Account.

Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shakeel Qadir Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Secretary Atif Rehman also opened their PayPlus current accounts on the occasion. Bank of Khyber MD Ehsanullah Ehsan, Group Head Conventional Banking Sher Muhammad and other senior officials of the bank also attended the event.

Work on Seven ADB-Funded Projects in KP to be Expedited

Work on Seven ADB-funded projects in KP to be expedited. It was decided in a joint review meeting of Planning and Development Department & Asian Development Bank where ADB funded projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were reviewed in detail.
The volume of ADB-funded projects in KP is $925.1 Million. The meeting agreed to regularly survey the status of projects, identify the bottlenecks and set the targets to expedite the implementation process.

Bank of Khyber Posts Historic Profit of Rs.3.8 Billion in 2020

Bank Of Khyber posts historic Profit of Rs.3.8 Billion in 2020, registers extraordinary growth in challenging times.
The Board of Directors of the Bank of Khyber (BOK) held their 165th meeting at Peshawar to approve financial results for the year 2020. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and chairman BOK Board of Directors.
The Bank closed year with historic profit before tax (PBT) of Rs. 3,806 million, whereas profit after tax (PAT) with rise of 64% and stood at Rs. 2,151million as compared to Rs. 1,306 million for the same period of 2019.
The Bank maintained strong payout to shareholders declaring dividends of Rs.1.5 billion for year 2020 (Rs.1.5 per share) along with bonus shares at 5%. Earnings per share was at Rs.2.1 as compared to Rs.1.3 in 2019. Deposits registered a growth of 11.47 % and increased to Rs. 203,071 million, advances reached Rs. 129,063 million whereas Investments closed at Rs. 113,478 million for 2020.

KP Government Decides to Use Advance Technology for Crop Estimation

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government decides to use technology to innovate crop estimation and production. Instead of the traditional statistical method, satellite imaging with the help of SPARCO will now be adopted.

A PC-1 worth Rs. 22 crore has been prepared for the project which will soon be approved by the Provincial Development Working Party meeting in P&D Department. Money has been set aside in PC-1 for crop reporting, SPARCO and equipment required for the project. A special laboratory will also be set up for the project. The project will be launched on a pilot basis. If successful, it will be implemented as a comprehensive system in the future.

The meeting was chaired by Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary KP, and was attended by Secretary Agriculture, Bureau of Statistics, SPARCO officials, Irrigation, Revenue Department and P&D officials.

Due to the project, the government will be able to get accurate and timely information for decision making. Innovation and sophistication in crop production and advancement in the system of demand and supply is the need of time. The project will enable the government to map crop cultivation and production areas through satellite.  The use of technology will enable the government to save resources. The system will play a vital role in planning for the future food needs of the province and will help to avoid any food crises in the future.

KP Government Decides to Establish Physical Rehabilitation Centers in Province

 The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to set up three physical rehabilitation centers in the province. Physical rehabilitation and treatment centers for the disabled will be set up in Swat, Abbottabad, and DI Khan. The cost of the project is about Rs. 17 crore.

 The Paraplegic Center in Peshawar, which has been associated with the sector for 35 years, will oversee the operations of these centers. The government will provide financial resources for the project. These centers will be established in rented buildings.

Physical rehabilitation centers will provide physiotherapy, speech therapy, post-operative physical rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation to the physically challenged. Physical rehabilitation centers will have all the equipment needed for physical rehabilitation

Once the centers are established, each center will be able to provide support to 150 patients on a daily basis. These centers will provide treatment to children with birth defects as well as to the elders with disabilities.

 A meeting was held in the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to finalize the plan.

KP Government Prepared a Plan for Economic Development of Merged Areas

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has prepared a plan of Rs. 68.16 billion for the economic development of the merged areas. The project will be funded by the Accelerated Development Program. To prevent duplication in the project, it has been compared with other ongoing projects in the merged areas. In the economic development plan of merged areas, priority has been given to those areas which could not be addressed in the past.

About 7 major sectors have been included in the economic development plan. Work will be carried out on 84 major projects in these sectors out of which 46 projects will cover three years and 35 projects will cover more than three years.

The economic development plan includes Rs 28.5 billion for technical education, Rs 14.5 billion for agriculture, Rs 8 billion for tourism, Rs 7.5 billion for small and medium enterprises, Rs 4.43 billion for minerals. Rs 4.19 billion has been allocated for agri business and Rs 1 billion for forestry.

An Apex Committee will be set up for the implementation and monitoring of the project, which will be headed by Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In addition, the departments will be authorized to design and implement economic development plan projects for which a committee headed by the secretary will work at the departmental level.

KP Government Decided The Division of Health & Agriculture Departments into Two Parts

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided in principle to divide these departments into two parts to ensure better management of the health and agriculture and livestock departments and efficient management of their administrative affairs. By increasing the process of providing public services can be improved and their administrative matters can be brought in line with the current requirements.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, while agreeing in principle with the proposed plan to divide these departments into two separate administrative departments, directed the concerned authorities to submit final proposals in this regard to the Cabinet for formal approval. The Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to expedite the various reform processes in other provincial departments as well and submit a report on the progress made so far in this regard.

He was presiding over a meeting on Monday to review the ongoing reform process in various provincial departments. The meeting was briefed on various issues and suggestions regarding the division of Health Department and Agriculture and Livestock into two parts.

According to the initial plan, the primary health care sector will be separated from the health department while it is proposed to separate the livestock sector from the agriculture department.

Additional Chief Secretary KP Shakeel Qadir Khan, Secretary Development and Planning Amir Tareen, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shehab Ali Shah and other concerned officials also attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister was briefed about the preparations for the Annual Development Program for the Fiscal Year 2021-22 and the development projects to be completed during the current financial year. The meeting was informed that at present a total of 836 development projects of various types in the province are in the final stages of completion which will be completed by the end of this financial year. The Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to start preparations for the next annual development program now and take necessary steps to finalize it in time.

18th PDWP Held on 9th March 2021

The 18th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) was held under the Chairmanship of Mr.Shakeel Qadir Khan, the Additional Chief Secretary P&D Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 9th March, 2021 through video link. The meeting was attended by members of PDWP and concerned departments. The forum considered 24 schemes pertaining to Sports & Tourism, Forestry, Water, Health, Relief & Rehabilitation, Multi Sectoral Development, Higher Education, Elementary & Secondary Education, Roads, Urban Development and DWSS sectors for the uplift of the province. The forum approved 21 schemes with an estimated cost of Rs. 24,499.505 million. 03 schemes were deferred due to deficiencies in project documents/PC-I and were returned to the respective department for rectification.
