The Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting of the Regional Infrastructure Fund (RIF-KP) was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Ikramullah Khan, Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The interventions in Districts Haripur and Nowshera were discussed. The Additional Chief Secretary lauded the valuable partnership with KfW and directed the relevant district administrations and officials to ensure the arrangement of human resources within the department, both currently and permanently for the future in order to supervise schemes. He added that the Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, would liaise with the Finance Department and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the project’s pace and impact.
Notably, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with assistance from KfW, is working on the project, which includes components such as roads, capacity building, and tube wells.

The 2nd Provincial Steering Committee meeting of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework was held today under the co-chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan, and UN Provincial Program Team Chair, Dr Babar Alam.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders from the government, UN agencies, and development partners to review progress, discuss challenges, and chart future directions for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed the implementation status of ongoing projects and initiatives, identified areas for improvement, and agreed on a way forward to accelerate progress towards achieving the SDGs. The Additional Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts and effective implementation to achieve the SDGs. He also highlighted the need for innovative solutions, partnerships, and data-driven decision-making to drive sustainable development in the province.
The Additional Chief Secretary noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is highly vulnerable to climate change and working on resilient infrastructure is the need of the hour. He also emphasized that the liaison and communication between the government and UN agencies are significant and will bring fruitful results.
Under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan, a District Development Review Meeting was convened to review the progress of ADP schemes; DDP-I, DDI, and the Accelerated Sustainable Development Initiative (ASDI). The forum reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparent planning, equitable resource distribution, and timely execution of development projects across all districts. All Deputy Commissioners and representatives from district administrations attended the meeting, reflecting their commitment to the development agenda. District administrations were directed to prioritize scheme identification under ASDI, ensure proper geo-tagging and documentation, and work proactively for efficient service delivery to the people.
A CP3P Foundation Certification awarding ceremony was convened under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan, at the Planning & Development (P&D) Department. Chief PPP, Mr. Shehryar Mehmood, briefed the Additional Chief Secretary on the certification process and the cohort of qualified candidates drawn from multiple Departments. The Additional Chief Secretary appreciated the outstanding performance of the successful participants, encouraged them to continue their professional development in Public-Private Partnership capacity building. He also extended a vote of thanks to the FCDO-funded SEED Programme for its invaluable technical assistance and sustained support to administrative departments.
The participants of the 44th Mid-Career Management Course visited the Civil Secretariat Peshawar as part of their Inland Study Tour, where a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Economist, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Arifullah Awan. During the meeting, the Chief Economist briefed the participants on the development portfolio of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a special focus on the merged districts. He highlighted the government’s strategic high-impact flagship targets and showcased successfully executed and pipeline projects of Public-Private Partnership.
Additionally, the Finance Department representative presented an overview of the department’s profile, including the sources of revenue for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, areas of expenditure, and potential sources of revenue. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for a new National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.
The Home Department representative provided an overview of the department’s key responsibilities, including law and order, public safety, and other matters.
The participants engaged in a productive discussion, gaining a deeper understanding of the province’s development priorities, financial management strategies, and security related matters.
The Provincial Steering Committee Meeting of “Promoting Rule of Law and Enhancing the Criminal Justice System in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” was held under the chairmanship of Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Adeel Shah. The Secretary extended a warm welcome to the participants. During the meeting progress made so far was reviewed , while also the achievements of the project was acknowledged.
During the meeting, the participants engaged in a thorough discussion and feedback session, providing valuable insights and suggestions. The work plan for UNDP and UN Women was reviewed and approved, paving the way for further collaboration and implementation.
The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to come together, share experiences, and align their efforts towards strengthening the rule of law and enhancing the criminal justice system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The 5th Steering Committee Meeting on Multi-Sectoral Coordination Mechanism (MSCM) for Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan. The meeting was attended by relevant officers from various departments, development partners and SPGM section P&DD.
During the meeting, the progress on action plans under the 5 task forces was reviewed. Mr. Ikramullah Khan assured that the Planning and Development Department would provide full facilitation for carrying out activities, underscoring the department’s commitment to addressing GBV in the province. He emphasized that the team should work dedicatedly, knowing the importance of the issue, to achieve the desired objectives and make a meaningful impact in preventing and responding to GBV in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The 6th Project Steering Committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Economic Transformation Project (KP-RETP) was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Ikramullah Khan.
Additional Chief Secretary was briefed on progress of last steering committee meeting’s decisions and general components agribusiness and skills developments.
