SNG-II Annual Review Meeting

SNG-II Annual Review Meeting chaired under the chairmanship of Secretary P&D, Department, Mr.Shah Mahmood. The team from FCDO comprising of Governance Advisors,Ms. Natalia Leigh and Ms. Naghma e Tehniat, SRO SNG II, Mr. Naveed Aziz and Program Officer, Mr. Athar Waqar participated. In meeting the ongoing activities of SNG-II programme and next year work plan were discussed.
Under the programme the key interventions so far include: budget austerity measures and efficient allocation, engagements with parliamentarians and health preparedness framework. It in same way assisted Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in bringing strategic and transformational reforms in order to improve service delivery.

KP Government Approved More Feeder Routes For BRT

Another piece of good news for the people of Peshawar. The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa approved the construction of more feeder routes of BRT for the convenience of the people of Peshawar and its environs. These feeder routes include Warsak Road, Khyber Road, Regi Model Town, Charsadda Route Extension, Hayatabad Phase 1 and Pubi Bazaar. The decision was taken in the Meeting of the Board of Directors of Urban Mobility Authority chaired by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan wherein orders have been issued for the purchase of 86 new buses for these feeder routes.

Great news for zoo bike users too. the government has taken the decision to reduce zoo bicycle fares as well as the security fee for zoo bicycles from Rs 3,000 to Rs 1,000. the government intended to activate all feeder routes of BRT by June this year.

Meeting on Khyber Pass Economic Corridor Project (KPEC)

Meeting regarding Khyber Pass Economic Corridor Project (KPEC) held at P&D, department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Mr. Shahab Ali Shah. The mission briefed the Additional Chief Secretary about progress on KPEC project. Under the project a master plan will be developed for Western Greater Peshawar.
The project will not only bring a positive change, locally but will also play an instrumental role in regional trade and connectivity.

17th PDWP Held on 25th March 2022

The 17th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Friday approved schemes worth Rs 112104 million. Under the chairmanship of Shahab Ali Shah, the additional chief secretary P&D Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the approval was accorded at the meeting of the PDWP.

The meeting was attended by concerned departments and members of PDWP. It added that the forum approved 25 projects schemes pertaining to Rural Development, C&W, Sport&Tourism, Elementary and Secondary Education and Public Health Engineering sectors for the uplift of the province.

The approved projects include:
Purchase of Sanitation Vehicles and Sewer Suction Machinery for opening Drains and sewerage lines in Divisional Headquarter and TMAs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Establishment of Govt. Imran Khan Mohmand Shaheed Girls Degree College At Sher Garh, District Mardan ,
Instructional and Physical Training Programme in Newly Merged Districts,Solarization of Schools in Merged Areas under AIP, Establishment of Information Complex, Feasibility study for design & construction of Badalai Bridge at Madyan District Swat, in Dir Upper construction of roads at Samang Gulwadai Dara, Shaoor, Usherai Dara , Kumrat, Badgoai & Jandrai Road, Doag Dara, Usorai Dara, Kadi Khel Dara, Improvement/Widening/Rehabilitation from Main GT Sarozai Hangu Road District Hangu, Feasibility Studies for Design & Construction of Road from Patrak to Thal Kumrat District Dir Upper, 4RCC Bridges and Grade Separated intersection at Shaheed Chowk Timergara in Dir lower,

Meetings Regarding Mohmand Dam and Balakot Hydropower Project

Meetings regarding Mohmand Dam and Balakot Hydropower Project were held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Mr Shehab Ali Shah at Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Additional Chief Secretary was apprised of the progress made in both the projects. It may be recalled that Mohmand Dam includes the construction of dams and other projects for local people such as the supply of clean drinking water, and the construction of roads, schools and power grid stations. It will play an important role but will also help in providing employment and prosperity to the concerned areas. Additional Chief Secretary Mr Shehab Ali Shah appreciated the role of the concerned district heads in the project of Mohmand Dam.

Monitoring Team of P&D Department Visited Various Development Sites in Province

The Monitoring and Evaluation Team of Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa visited the ongoing scheme GHS Pagori in Shangla District which is now being upgraded to Higher Secondary level. The project is one of fifty high schools that are working on higher secondary level upgrades. The team reviewed the financial and physical progress of the project.

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is working on strengthening and improving existing government Fruit Nursery Farms. Team of Monitoring and Evaluation(Mardan Division), Planning and Development, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa along with a staff of the Agriculture Department visited a Nursery Farm in Charbagh District Swabi and checked progress.

The review and monitoring team of the Planning and Development Department of KP is continuously monitoring the ongoing development projects to maintain the quality. In this regard, the supervision team of the Mardan Division inspected the construction work of the Government Higher Secondary School Shaftal Banda in the Mardan District. The team reviewed the progress of the ongoing scheme and issued instructions.

The 32nd Meeting of the Board of Directors of Trans Peshawar

The 32nd meeting of the Board of Directors of Trans Peshawar was held under the chairmanship of Mr Shehab Ali Shah, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Planning and Development, in which members of the Board and relevant departments participated. The meeting decided to improve the travel facilities of the citizens and further improve the BRT service.
It is worth mentioning that BRT Peshawar is a unique project of its kind in the country in which the highest number of passengers, number of buses, number of routes and lowest subsidy are being given on daily basis.
BRT Peshawar has also recently been awarded the International Gold Standard Award.

19th PDWP Held on 22nd April 2022

The 19th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party approved projects worth Rs. 177 billion. Approval was given in a meeting of PDWP chaired by Additional Chief Secretary P&D Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr Shahab Ali Shah.

The projects include the supply of clean drinking water to the Khyber Sur Kamar and Landi Kotal districts, which will solve the long-standing problem of the area. Remember that work will be done on the ancient infrastructure for the completion of the project.

The meeting was attended by members of PDWP and relevant departments. The forum approved 41 projects related to agriculture, rural development, C&W, endowment, food, health and irrigation for the development of the province.

Approved projects include rehabilitation and improvement of canals and other irrigation infrastructure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, construction of flood protection works in Dera Ismail Khan and improvement of a water channel in Buner Shalbandai, provision of land for Dir Motorway and Visibility Gap Funding for construction of Peshawar DI Khan Motorway, Solar System Project under District Development Plan for Bannu Division and Construction and Rehabilitation of Mirakhel to Ismail Khani Road, the establishment of Emergency Rescue Service Rescue 1122 in Buner District related to relief, award of scholarships to former FATA students at Ghulam Ishaq Institute Topi Swabi in the field of industries, the establishment of two best centres in the field of Renewable Energy at Government College of Technology in Peshawar and Swat. the construction of food warehouses in Mohmand district in terms of food, Provision of Research Studies, Consultancy, Survey, Detailed Design Feasibility Studies for Greater Peshawar Region Mass Transit Circular Rail Project, Improvement of Facilities and Infrastructure in Existing Judicial Complex of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Girls Section at Bannu Model School & College Establishment of other necessary infrastructure, Development programs for environmental impact mitigation programs in sports and tourism, Integrated Development Package for Tehsil Sub Division Wazir Jani Khel, Improvement of mosques and madrassas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Reconstruction and rehabilitation, construction of existing road from Bannu to Miranshah in the road sector, construction of Jani Khel Old Mandi to Poya Jani Khel road and other projects are included.
