Improvement of Education Sector in KP

Another step towards fulfilling the promises made by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Mahmood Khan.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is working hard to build BS blocks in government colleges for the development of the education sector in the entire province. Shiva Degree College in Swabi District is currently working on BS Block. The Planning and Development Department review team is inspecting the ongoing work with the concerned department.

16th PDWP Held on 8th March 2022

The 16th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Shahab Ali Shah which approved projects worth Rs 30 billion.

Notable among the approved projects is the establishment of Education City project in Barwand, South Waziristan. This project with modern architecture and international standards will be equipped with all kinds of facilities. Education City will have excellent educational institutions as well as residential facilities, playgrounds, amusement parks, science and technology parks, sports complexes and hostels.

The meeting was attended by members of PDWP and relevant departments. The Forum approved 27 projects for the development of the province in the areas of industries, higher education, C&W, health, sports and tourism, social welfare and public health engineering.

Among the approved projects are construction of flood protection and safety works in Mardan District Pir Khel Union Council Shahbaz Garhi and District Bannu Sadakhel and Sool Village, Chashma Algad Kashu Spain Tangi Pir Bakhel, Khalif Khel, Khaisur, Swat Expressway (Phase-II Provision of Viability Gap Fund for construction, utility shifting and resettlement, Establishment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa University of Technology in Nowshera District, Skills Development for Youth of Integrated Districts, Purchase and Construction of Land for Zumong Kor in Swat District, Provision of Hockey Turf in Buner, Swabi and Malakand Districts, Grants for free education for Students of Integrated Districts, capacity building and skills development for students of religious schools and the same scheme for students of religious schools in the merged districts, for development in the roads sector construction and rehabilitation of roads in Karak District Takht Nusrati and Banda Daud Shah, Feasibility Study of Improvement / Widening and Rehabilitation of Sundar Kalatian Road and Shahkhel Piran Road, Mansehra Chakia Jungle District, connecting Indus Highway (N-55) with Hakla York Dera Ismail Khan Motorway (M-14) on Bannu Link Road. And detailed design construction of various link roads in South Waziristan District and construction of 7 km road up to Black Topping Tehsil Barmal Gharlana Chalgoza Forest, Feasibility Study and Construction of Swat District Khawaja Khel Bypass and Chaprial Bypass Road, Construction of 20 km road from Gala Jan Kot to Naseeb Khel Jani Khel and from Arzi Khel to Nazan Khel in Tank, Construction of roads, maintenance, widening up, RCC bridge in Sultan Khel, Chapar and Karo Dara in Upper Dir District, RCC bridge over Prang Tanga for construction of bridges in integrated districts, Construction of Central Police Office in Peshawar, Construction of building for Gaju Khan Medical College Swabi, sanitation schemes for District Charsadda Union Council Gandhiri 02 and Union Council Hari Chand 02.

Meeting of Annual Project Review Board of UNDP for MAGP

Under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Shahab Ali Shah the meeting of the Annual Project Review Board(PRB) of UNDP pertaining to Merged Areas Governance Project(MAGP) was held in Islamabad, today. UNDP, Deputy Resident Representative, Ms. Aliona Niculita and Director KP office USAID, Mr. Xerses Sidwha attended the meeting.The board approved the Workplan of the Merged Areas Governance Project(MAGP) for 2022. Additional Chief Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Shahab Ali Shah lauded the role of MAGP in developing the next phase of the Accelerated Implementation Program(AIP).

Improvement and Rehabilitation of Pir Qila to Ghalani Road Mohmand District

Another step towards fulfilling the promises made by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Mahmood Khan
Work on improvement and rehabilitation of Pir Qila to Ghalani Road, Mohmand District is in full swing at present. It may be recalled that this project was approved by the Provincial Development Working Party meeting of the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on June 25, 2020, on which the relevant department of Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority started work. The improvement and rehabilitation of the existing road from Pir Qila to Ghalani will have a tremendous impact on Mohmand District. This will facilitate communication to remote areas and travel duration will be reduced from about 25 minutes to 10 minutes.
The rehabilitation of the existing road from Pir Qila to Ghalani will connect the two major parts of Mohmand District and will facilitate travel and facilitate the growth of local business opportunities, as well as improve access to health services and will also increase educational activities in the area.

10th Steering Committee Meeting of Schools Construction & Rehabilitation Program

Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Shahab Ali Shah chaired the 10th steering committee meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-Schools Construction & Rehabilitation Program in P&D Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is pertinent to know that under the program across the province 27 Government Girls Higher Secondary School(GGHSS), 48 Government Higher Secondary School(GHSS), 35 Government Girls Primary School(GGPS), 32 Government Primary School(GPS), 39 Government Girls Middle School(GGMS), 41 Government Middle School(GMS), 32 Government High School(GHS) and 14 Government Girls High School(GGHS) were standardized and 816 classrooms, 113 laboratories and 46 staff rooms with other multiple requirements have been constructed. Additional Chief Secretary, Mr Shahab Ali Shah was briefed about the progress.
Along with quality education, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also working on building infrastructure for education.

Upgradation of Road From Sherkot to Hangu District

Another step towards fulfilling the promises made by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr Mahmood Khan. Soon the work will be completed on the up-gradation of Sherkot to district Hangu road by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority. the existing 24km road will be converted into two lanes and three new bridges will be constructed over it. The Sherkot to Hangu road is a part of the provincial highway S-7 which starts from the Indus Highway junction and ends at the Chapri border of Kurram district. Its total length is 115 km. The 16 km road section from Kohat (Hangu Chowk) to Sherkot has recently been upgraded to a four-lane carriageway. This is the main road connecting Kohat district with Hangu district and Kurram district. Apart from the Orakzai district, the North Waziristan district is also connected to S-7 by link roads. Being an international route, this road plays an important role in trade and business development, as the project will further facilitate trade with Afghanistan and have a positive impact on Pakistan’s economy. The dualization of this section will help the adjoining populations to better connect with Kohat and other parts of the country. The total length of this road is 24 km which starts from Sherkot and ends at Hangu town. This road passes through Estarzai, Jozara, Raisan, Ibrahimzai, Bahadur Banda, Police Training College Hangu and reaches the main destination of Hangu city. Completion of this project will result in effective communication, reduction in travel duration, rapid movement of local products in the market as well as an increase in employment opportunities for local people.

Special PDWP Meeting Approved A Project Worth Over Rs. 6 Billion for North Waziristan District

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Development Working Party meeting approved a project worth over Rs. 6 billion for the North Waziristan district.
A special meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party on Tuesday approved a (revised) plan to offset business losses and increase socio-economic benefits in North Waziristan District. This approval was given in a meeting chaired by Mr Shehab Ali Shah, Additional Chief Secretary, P&D Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Under the approved plan, work will be done on repair and reconstruction of equipment, building and land damage of Miranshah Bazaar in North Waziristan District.
Remember that so far more than three thousand victims have received compensation while two thousand are yet to be received.
