Meeting on Work Plan for Khyber Pass Economic Corridor 2020-21

Significant progress of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Khyber Pass Economic Corridor, Work Plan for Khyber Pass Economic Corridor 21-2020 and Operational Manual approved The master plan and feasibility of the project were approved in the meeting. The first meeting of the steering committee of Khyber Pass Economic Corridor was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shakeel Qadir Khan at Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The total length of Khyber Pass Economic Corridor is 47.5 km. The total cost of the project is 50 506.8 million. The project was approved by ECNEC in July 2020. The project will be completed in 2026. There are two components of the project. In the first phase, a four-lane Peshawar-Torkham Expressway will be constructed at a cost of 429.57 million. The NHA will work on this section. A steering committee will also be formed at the grassroots level Under the second component, economic development projects along the expressway at a cost of 77 77.23 million will be carried out under the supervision of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. The proposed roads in Khyber Pass Economic Corridor include Mohmand Industrial Zone Road, Warsak to Machni Road to Khyber Pass Economic Corridor, M1, N5 and C-Pack routes from Northern Bypass to South, Roads from Peshawar City to Khyber Pass Economic Corridor. Matni Bypass Linking N55, Takht Beg / Jamrud to be used as Central Junction for Traffic to Afghanistan The Project Management Unit and the Advisory Committee have been approved to monitor the project and the development work to be done on it. The Steering Committee will present its recommendations to the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee will be headed by Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. P Culture and Tourism Authority, KP Board of Investment and Trade, KP Ismik, SMEDA, Public Private Partnership Unit, Urban Policy Unit, PKHA, NHA, Municipalities are represented so that the relevant departments of economic development The project will open new chapters of economic development from Peshawar to Torkham and provide trade opportunities to Pakistan to Central Asia.

Press Release: 12th PDWP Held On 9th December 2020

The twelfth meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party was held in the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shakeel Qadir Khan. 33 projects of public welfare were presented in the meeting. 29 projects costing Rs. 32.25 billion were approved in the meeting. Relevant departments including various forum members attended the meeting online under Corona SOPs. Among the notable projects, the forum approved phase 3 of the mobile hospital program at a cost of Rs. 40.5 crore in all the amalgamated districts. Under the project, 29 more mobile hospital vehicles will be provided for the amalgamated districts for which 202 health workers will be provided. 990 campuses have been set up in the last six years through the mobile hospital program in which 39,000 patients have been treated. Health department approves 300-bed children’s pads hospital at 40 kanals in Kabal Swat at a cost of Rs 1.64 billion The meeting approved a feasibility study at a cost of Rs. 4.5 million for the upgradation of DHQ Hospital and establishment of medical colleges in Kurram, North and South Waziristan. A feasibility study has also been approved for the provision of nursing, paramedics and health facilities at a cost of Rs. 3 crore in the amalgamated districts. Expansion of Health Management Information System project at a cost of Rs. 208 million for integrated districts has been approved. The meeting also approved the setting up of District Headquarters Hospital at a cost of Rs. 98 crore in Koli Pals Kohistan district. Earlier, ten basic health centers were functioning in the area. The Provincial Development Working Party has directed the Planning and Development Department’s Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate to report progress on projects approved by the Health Department through the Provincial Development Working Party so far this year. The M&E Directorate will check the progress on projects approved under the Accelerated Development Program for Integrated Districts this year. A plan to set up 16 new colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a cost of Rs 4.9 billion was approved The establishment of an engineering university in Swat at a cost of Rs 8.2 billion was also approved Government Girls Degree College approved at a cost of Rs. 27 crore in Lower Dir Lal Qila Maidan under Higher Education Department Rs 45.8 crore project approved to fill staff shortage in schools and colleges in tribal districts Social Welfare Department approves Braille printing press project for special people The project will cost Rs 43 million and will be set up at the Government Institute for the Blind in Peshawar. Reading documents will help Flood Prevention Schemes at a cost of Rs. 75 crore in Bannu, DI Khan, Kohat, improvement of waterways, rehabilitation of canal roads. A plan of Rs. 98 crore has been approved for the rehabilitation and construction of Warsak Left Bank Canal, Mohmand District Mori Lisht Pipe Irrigation Scheme and Irrigation Channels for Kailash Valley Chitral approved at a cost of Rs. 15 crore Solar tube wells, flood protection and irrigation channels at UC 36, 42, 43, 44, 48, 64, 65, 66, 69, 70, 71, 80, 92 at various Union Councils of Peshawar at a cost of Rs. 20 crore. Approved Relief Department approves Rs 39.8 crore project for mine rescue operation in Abbottabad, Buner, Kohat Under the project, Rescue 1122 will be provided with equipment and vehicles for rescue operations in Mainz areas. It also approved Dagar Bypass Road at a cost of Rs. 70 crore in Buner, Gujar Gabral Road at a cost of Rs. Gone The C&W Department of Peshawar DI Khan Motorway submitted its report to the Provincial Development Working Party which was sent to the Infrastructure Section of P&D for scrutiny and further scrutiny of the project. Under 12th PDWP Meeting 29 Schemes Worth Rs.32250.307 million Were Approved

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Development Working Party on Wednesday approved 29 schemes of Rs.32250.307 million while considering as many as 33 schemes pertaining to Health, Higher Education, Water, Multi-Sectoral Development Relief & Rehabilitation, Elementary & Secondary Education Roads and Social Welfare sectors for the uplift of the province. However, four schemes were deferred and was returned to the respective department for rectification. The 12th meeting of PDWP was held under the Chairmanship of Shakeel Qadir Khan, the Additional Chief Secretary P&D Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 9th December, 2020 through video link. KP Govt has released 40.3 Million PKR to newly approved Braille printing press scheme. The set-up will be established at Government Institute for Blind Peshawar.
