22nd Meeting of KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority

On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, the 22nd meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority was held, which was chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Islam Zeb. The meeting was attended by the Secretary Food, Director General Food Safety and Halal Food Authority and officers of the concerned sections. The agenda of the meeting included a review of the implementation of the decisions of the 21st Board Meeting and detailed discussions were held on other issues. The Additional Chief Secretary emphasized that the ongoing steps to ensure food cleanliness, quality and hygiene should be further intensified so that safe and quality food is available to the citizens. The provincial government has taken special steps to improve the quality of food and implement the principles of hygiene and actions in this regard should be continued.

Meeting on Draft KP Water and Sanitation Policies 2026

Upon special direction of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi a meeting regarding the “Draft KP Water Policy 2026” and “Draft Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sanitation Policy 2026” was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Islam Zaib, Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The drafting team briefed the Additional Chief Secretary on the progress made so far on both policy drafts.
Speaking on the occasion, the Additional Chief Secretary said that ensuring the supply of safe drinking water and safely managed sanitation is a top priority of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He directed that the policies should clearly address the key challenges being faced. He further emphasized that along with the policy, a practical implementation strategy must also be developed in close consultation with all relevant line departments.
The meeting was attended by relevant secretaries, sections of P&D and members of the drafting team.

Meeting on Donors’ Projects Related to Communication, Construction, and Irrigation

An important meeting was held in the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Islam Zeb regarding the ongoing projects of the departments of Communication, Construction and Irrigation with the support of donors and partners.
The objective of the meeting was to take a detailed review of the progress of the ongoing projects being implemented in the province with the support of donors and partners, keeping in mind the public welfare, and to ensure all necessary steps for their timely completion.
In the meeting, the representatives of the projects gave a detailed briefing on the current progress of the ongoing projects and the achievement of the goals.
The Additional Chief Secretary emphasized that the main objective of these projects is to provide the best possible impact to the people. He directed that the timely completion and quality of the projects should be ensured at all costs. In this regard, close coordination and mutual cooperation between the relevant departments, the Planning and Development Department, and donors and partners should be further strengthened.

Training Session on the Procedures of The Complaint Cell

Training session held on the procedures of the Complaints Cell established in the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the light of the instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi
A training session was held to sensitize the designated focal persons on the functions, procedures and timely redressal system of the “Complaints Cell” established in the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the light of the instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi.
The objective of the meeting was to familiarize the designated focal persons of all the relevant offices and sections with the communication system with the Complaints Cell, the procedure for registering, transferring and resolving complaints within the stipulated time so as to ensure effective and timely redressal of public complaints.
During the training session, the participants were given a detailed briefing on the duties of the Complaints Cell, the procedure for receiving and disposing of complaints, maintenance of records and the mechanism for communication with the concerned departments. On this occasion, the importance of timely resolution of complaints was also emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, all focal persons were directed to further activate communication with the complaints cell in their respective offices and ensure that the complaints received are dealt with within the stipulated time.

On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the review meetings of the Annual Development Program 2025-26 have begun in the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, a series of review meetings of the Annual Development Program for the year 2025-26 have been started in the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Under this, an important meeting was held today regarding the ongoing projects of the departments of Primary and Secondary Education, Higher Education, Endowment, Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Forestry.
The meeting was chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Islam Zeb.
The meeting reviewed the projects of all the above-mentioned sectors in detail. The Monitoring and Evaluation Reports related to the projects were also considered separately and necessary instructions were issued.
At the end of the meeting, it was directed that all ongoing activities be expedited and the set targets be achieved on time. In this regard, the relevant sections of the Planning and Development Department were directed to complete the necessary steps immediately.
The meeting was attended by secretaries of the relevant departments and officers of the Planning and Development Department.

2nd PDWP Meeting Held on 22nd July 2026

The second meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party was held on the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the establishment of a nursing college in Chitral Upper District. The project will cost Rs 500 million. The establishment of a nursing college at the local level will provide quality education, improve medical services and create vast employment opportunities for the youth.
The second meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Mr. Islam Zeb. The meeting was attended by forum members.
The meeting considered the approval and expansion of 8 development projects for the year 2026-27, the total cost of which is more than Rs 5 billion. The aim of these projects is to provide health facilities in remote areas and bring the judicial system to the doorsteps of the people.
The scope of 4 projects in the health sector has been expanded. These include construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure in the Government Mental and General Hospital in Mansehra and upgradation of Accident and Emergency Unit and ICU in Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar. In addition, a trauma center has been added to DHQ Hospital in Lakki Marwat.
The scope of three projects related to law and justice has been expanded. These include a feasibility study for the establishment of judicial complexes in Dargai Malakand, Tal Hangu, Shabqadar Charsadda, Tank and Totalai Buner. In addition, the expansion of judicial lodges in Nathiagali Abbottabad and the construction of additional suites in the judicial lodge in RCG-13 in Peshawar are also included.
The completion of these projects will provide timely medical treatment to the people of the province. Similarly, the improvement of judicial infrastructure will provide cheap and prompt justice to the common citizen and the government’s vision of access to justice will take practical form.

Meeting With Ms. Anita Hirsch, Country Director and Representative of WFP

A meeting with Ms. Anita Hirsch, Country Director and Representative of the World Food Programme, and her team was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Islam Zaib, Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Additional Chief Secretary extended a warm welcome to the WFP delegation and lauded the long-standing partnership between the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the World Food Programme.
During the meeting, various areas of mutual interest were discussed. The Additional Chief Secretary highlighted the growing climate risks faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stated that the province is not only vulnerable to normal seasonal floods, but is increasingly witnessing cloudbursts and flash floods, which pose serious challenges to infrastructure, agriculture, and communities.
Both sides agreed to further enhance collaboration, particularly in the areas of food security and climate adaptation etc.
To ensure timely and effective delivery, the Additional Chief Secretary directed the relevant officers of the Planning and Development Department to extend all necessary facilitation and support for the smooth implementation of ongoing and future WFP interventions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen the partnership.

Annual Review Meeting on ADP 2025-26

On the instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, the annual review meeting of the Roads, Transport, MSD, Labor, Industries, Science and Information Technology and Public Private Partnership sectors related to the Annual Development Program for the year 2025-26 was held today.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Islam Zeb. The meeting reviewed the projects of each sector individually in detail. The Monitoring and Evaluation Report was also considered during the meeting.
The Additional Chief Secretary directed that all the schemes that are in the process of completion should be completed as soon as possible so that the people can benefit soon. He also urged all the departments to address the Monitoring and Evaluation Reports.
