Meeting on Project Implementation Policy

On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, a special meeting was held regarding the Project Implementation Policy. The meeting was chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Islam Zeb.
In the meeting, in the light of the complaints received through e-Khuli Kachhari, the Additional Chief Secretary was given a detailed briefing about the steps taken so far in implementing the amendments in the Project Implementation Policy. The Additional Chief Secretary directed that all necessary steps should be completed before the cabinet meeting to ensure effective implementation of the policy.

Weekly Review Meeting

A weekly review meeting of the sections and affiliated institutions of the department was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Islam Zeb.
The meeting took a detailed review of the progress of activities related to the sections. During this, issues including the release of sector-wise funds, expenditure, progress of projects and monitoring and evaluation reports were considered.
The meeting issued instructions to the concerned officers and said that the implementation of development projects should be further accelerated and the set targets should be achieved on time so that maximum relief could be provided to the people.

PDWP Meeting Approved 18 Projects Worth Over Rs 35 Billion

18 projects worth over Rs 35 billion approved in Provincial Development Working Party meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Mr. Islam Zeb

On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a road project worth Rs 5 billion was approved to access tourist destinations in Malakand Division. The construction of these roads will promote the tourism sector and strengthen local businesses and economy. The new road infrastructure will facilitate access to tourist destinations, reduce travel time and ensure safe and smooth travel for tourists and local population.

The projects approved in Swat district include the upgradation of Shahi Bagh Utroor Road, construction of Koshanko Darra Road, construction of Dadsar Road, construction of Mango Karoi Kandao Road, construction of Soltanar Road and reconstruction and rehabilitation of Gabin Jabba Road. In Upper Dir district, the construction of road from Ashrit Gwaldai to Sarbanda Samat Shahi, construction of road from Dunkar Jandre to Katora Lake and construction of road from Barkand Oshirai to Kandao Top have been approved. In Lower Dir district, construction of Sia to Haider Kandao Road PK-15, construction of Aso Road, construction of Manai Jakar Baba Road, construction of Oskai Barcharai Road, construction of Dasht-e-Leela Road from Mena Sar Bala, construction of Narai Kandao Road from Bagh and construction of Ziam Asman Shan Khushal Patte Top Road have been approved. While in Upper Chitral district, the upgradation project of Qaqalisht Meadows Road has been approved.
The meeting was attended by members of the forum and senior officers of the relevant departments.
The meeting approved important projects in the roads sector, including construction and feasibility study of the road from Haweed to Takhtaikhel Road and Main Hubak Sorani Road to Police Chowki Hubak and from Bat Chowk to Mandori Matotullah Shah Sarni in Bannu district, improvement and rehabilitation of Chashma to Dratang Road via Kafirkot, construction of three RC bridges and link roads in Khyber district, construction and black-topping of a 10.5-km long road from Al-Haj Shell Pump to Tera Main and Link Roads, construction of link roads from Peshawar University Road to Ring Road, feasibility study and detailed engineering design for dual-laneing of 26-km road from Indus Highway to Bannu City, rehabilitation and reconstruction of Hawala Road from Baran Dam to Jani Khel and Police Station Merian in Bannu district, construction of internal roads in all union councils of Haripur district. Apart from this, the meeting also approved the establishment of a public park in Tehsil Matta Swat, establishment of an e-governance cell and CBIS for water charges collection in the Public Health Engineering Department, special project of the common citizen through AIP and KP and establishment of Institute of Petroleum Technology.
Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Islam Zeb said that the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is utilizing all resources for the development and public welfare of the province. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure transparency, quality and adherence to the stipulated time limit in the implementation of the approved projects so that the people can benefit from these facilities as soon as possible.

PSC Meeting of KP-RIISP

The Project Steering Committee Meeting of KP RIISP was held under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Islam Zaib. The Additional Chief Secretary was briefed on the interventions made in the merged districts under the agriculture component, which have significantly supported the livelihoods of farmers. Crops cultivated with project interventions have yielded excellent results. The forum was also briefed about the physical progress of key activities including installation of tunnel structures, installation of vertical farming technology and other activities. The Additional Chief Secretary highlighted the significance of the project for the people of the merged districts, particularly for farmers, and added that all necessary steps should be taken to ensure that farmers benefit fully from the project interventions.

M&E Team Visited GGDC Mandani Charssada

Monitoring and Evaluation Team of Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa visits Government Girls Degree College Mandani, District Charsadda
A video recently went viral on social media regarding a part of the protective wall of Government Girls Degree College Mandani, District Charsadda. On the special instructions of Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Monitoring and Evaluation Wing team immediately visited the project site.
During the visit, the team made a detailed review of the ongoing construction, inspected the administrative affairs of the project and checked the quality and quantity of the work as per the approved PC-1, technical aspects and standards. The team also compiled a detailed report based on the on-site observation. Instructions were issued to the concerned authorities to ensure the work as per the approved quantity and quality and the remaining work should be completed as soon as possible without compromising on quality.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Wing of the Planning and Development Department is actively working to ensure transparency, quality and timely completion of ongoing development projects across the province. In this regard, special meetings have also been held recently with monitoring and planning wings across the province to further improve transparency and accountability.

Meeting Regarding Accountability and Redressal of Public Grievances

A special meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Islam Zeb regarding further promotion of accountability and intercession in the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Islam Zeb regarding further promotion of transparency and accountability in the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Department, Chiefs of Sections and representatives of affiliated institutions. During the meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary directed to immediately activate the front desk. He clarified that the complaint cell is already established and functional where citizens can register their complaints. On this occasion, he directed that a list of all the facilities directly provided by the department be compiled and the relevant forum be made accessible for the convenience of the public. The meeting also emphasized the need to review the regulations so that obstacles hindering public service can be removed. The Additional Chief Secretary also stressed on making the system for immediate redressal of citizens’ problems more effective. At the end of the meeting, he issued instructions that the department should ensure the organization of “e-Khli Kachhari” up to the district level so that the public can directly access the authorities.

KP Government Established Women’s Crisis Center in Peshawar

On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with the concerned department, has completed the important project of establishing a Women Crisis Center in Peshawar for the protection and rehabilitation of women.
The project cost Rs. 130.260 million and it has been established in Bashirabad, Pajgai Road, Peshawar.
The aim of establishing this center is to provide immediate protection and support to women who are victims of various forms of discrimination, domestic violence and gender-based violence.
In the Women Crisis Center, women will be trained in various skills along with safe housing, security and protection so that they can become financially self-sufficient. In addition, work will be done on character building and confidence building of women through medical facilities, religious education, counseling and social guidance.
This initiative of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is a manifestation of its commitment to protect the rights of women and provide them with a dignified life.

M&E Team Visited District Sawabi For Flood Protection Structures and Humps Clearance Work

A team from the Monitoring and Evaluation System of the Planning and Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa conducted a field visit to the flood protection structures and humps clearance works along with the sports complex in the Hamlet area on the banks of the Indus River, District Swabi. The objective of the visit was to review the physical and financial progress of the project, examine the implementation arrangements and ensure transparent utilization of funds.
During the visit, the team made a detailed inspection of all aspects of the project. Physical verification of the ongoing construction works on site and review of the implementation of technical standards were carried out. The team also reviewed the challenges existing on the site and recommended timely measures to the concerned authorities to improve the pace of work.
During the visit, special attention was paid to the quality of work, transparency and completion within the stipulated time so as to provide relief to the people at the earliest.
The Monitoring and Evaluation System, Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is committed to ensuring transparency, accountability and quality in public welfare projects so that public resources reach the people in the form of real and visible results.

Mr. Samuel Rizk, UNDP Resident Representative, With His Team, Visited P&D Department

Mr. Samuel Rizk, United Nations Development Programme – UNDP Resident Representative, along with his team, visited the Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, today.

The Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Islam Zaib, warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed his appreciation for UNDP’s continued support to the province.

A meeting was held during the visit. The discussion focused on the National Governance Programme (NGP) and UNDP’s ongoing technical assistance to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the areas of climate governance and energy regulation.

The progress achieved so far was reviewed in detail.

The discussion also covered next steps for strengthening the Climate Action Board (CAB) and the sequencing of climate finance support linked to CAB operationalization.

The forum further deliberated on a possible provincial climate implementation framework. It was agreed to enhance support to KP in assessing existing climate policies, sector plans, institutional arrangements, and implementation priorities in line with Pakistan’s NDC 3.0 commitments and KP’s own climate priorities.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Islam Zaib, ACS P&D KP, provided guidance on priorities of province and potential areas of collaboration. He reaffirmed the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s commitment to this partnership.

The meeting was attended by officials of the Planning and Development Department and representatives of UNDP Pakistan.
